- [00:00:12.040]Hi everyone, I hope you're having a beautiful day today!
- [00:00:15.020]Today I'm going to be showing you
- [00:00:16.130]how to trace letters on a sensory bag.
- [00:00:20.440]For this activity, you'll need some zip lock bags,
- [00:00:23.960]I just use some painter's tape,
- [00:00:25.178]some craft paint, you can also use acrylic paint,
- [00:00:28.720]you'll need a marker, preferably a Sharpie,
- [00:00:31.390]and then some kind of material
- [00:00:32.500]that you can get dirty with paint
- [00:00:34.920]if it happens to get messy.
- [00:00:38.240]First step to making your sensory bag
- [00:00:39.810]is to lay one of your plastic bags out flat
- [00:00:43.109]and use your Sharpie then
- [00:00:45.401]to write letters pretty big on the bag.
- [00:00:48.860]So I'm gonna write the letters here.
- [00:01:01.460]And you'll keep going until you get most of the letters
- [00:01:03.260]from the alphabet.
- [00:01:04.690]I like to put them just in random spots.
- [00:01:06.890]Since I have two different bags,
- [00:01:08.050]I'm gonna spread my letters out on each bag here.
- [00:01:11.530]Make your letters kinda big so that they're easy to trace.
- [00:01:15.020]On the inside, we'll be putting the paint,
- [00:01:18.730]so I'll show you how to do that next.
- [00:01:22.340]Here are all my letters.
- [00:01:28.010]You can make bubble letters if you wish.
- [00:01:29.800]I'm just gonna do it like this so that we can trace 'em.
- [00:01:34.960]Now that I have my letters written,
- [00:01:36.450]I'm going to start filling it up with paint.
- [00:01:38.650]So here I started squirting out my paint.
- [00:01:41.660]I don't need too much really.
- [00:01:44.640]So I'm gonna add the green
- [00:01:46.040]and now I'm gonna add my other colors,
- [00:01:47.920]which are purple and orange.
- [00:01:51.330]I don't want my colors to mix quite yet,
- [00:01:53.390]so I'm gonna spread them out here.
- [00:01:58.540]Now that I have all my colors inside,
- [00:02:00.350]you might need to use a little bit more and that's okay,
- [00:02:02.800]you're just gonna try and get all of the air out of the bag.
- [00:02:06.650]So some of your colors are definitely
- [00:02:08.290]probably going to be mixing,
- [00:02:10.570]but make sure that you seal the bag really, really well.
- [00:02:14.060]Now that it's all sealed up,
- [00:02:15.130]I'm gonna use my painter's tape
- [00:02:16.830]to tape down all of the edges around here.
- [00:02:20.690]You can do this on your table.
- [00:02:21.730]I'm still gonna use it and keep it on my cover here,
- [00:02:25.870]so I don't get paint squirted out.
- [00:02:29.650]So now I have all four of my sides taped down,
- [00:02:32.631]so now I can really start to trace those letters.
- [00:02:37.380]So here we go!
- [00:02:39.690]I wonder what's gonna happen.
- [00:02:41.690]Whoa, that was pretty cool!
- [00:02:45.180]Look at that, I traced that letter.
- [00:02:47.700]Now I can go to the next letter.
- [00:02:49.890]Wow, it feels so crazy!
- [00:02:55.700]Did B.
- [00:02:57.480]And I might have to push some of my paint
- [00:02:58.970]over here to the A so that I can trace my A.
- [00:03:04.800]Here we go.
- [00:03:08.430]Do you see how I'm kind of outlining it now?
- [00:03:12.310]I didn't have quite as much paint on this side,
- [00:03:15.110]so I'm able to see where I traced.
- [00:03:18.212]Look at that!
- [00:03:21.170]If you have younger children,
- [00:03:22.100]you can have them maybe just trace lines
- [00:03:24.170]or just really experiment with the feel
- [00:03:25.770]of these sensory bags.
- [00:03:27.655]You can even fill the bags with beads
- [00:03:30.340]or some other type of small object to push around.
- [00:03:34.420]This just really helps with their fine motor skills.
- [00:03:36.860]Older children too can practice tracing their numbers,
- [00:03:39.794]practicing their letter recognition,
- [00:03:41.990]also some of those sounds that those letters make, too.
- [00:03:46.930]I hope you have fun with your letter sensory bags!
- [00:03:49.570]Have a beautiful day!
