Description

Identifying what is developmentally normal for young children and what is not can lead to earlier interventions and better outcomes. Researchers from Brazil teamed with Nebraska methodologists to test and refine the Dimensional Inventory for Child Development Assessment (IDADI), a standardized screening tool to evaluate young children’s development across Brazil. Importantly, IDADI was the first such tool developed specifically for use among young children living in Brazil, taking into account their unique experiences and using culturally relevant measures. The data gained from the using the fully refined and robust screening tool has the potential to help early childhood practitioners in Brazil detect developmental delays more reliably and to take appropriate steps to address children’s needs.
