- [00:00:13.680]Hi, everyone.
- [00:00:14.690]Welcome to A Beautiful Day.
- [00:00:17.080]Today I wanted to share with you a fun engaging activity,
- [00:00:20.630]that you can really focus in on those cognitive skills
- [00:00:25.480]of shape recognition with just some independent play
- [00:00:30.197]of allowing the children (clears throat)
- [00:00:32.310]to explore different shapes.
- [00:00:34.315](clears throat)
- [00:00:35.148]Today we're gonna use magnet tiles and our fridge
- [00:00:40.130]and some removable tape.
- [00:00:46.000]We taped out the outlines of different shapes on our fridge,
- [00:00:50.880]and we're gonna work on connecting those shapes together.
- [00:00:53.611]Mommy.
- [00:00:55.577]Mommy, mommy.
- [00:00:57.590]I just taped the outline of different shapes
- [00:01:00.360]of magnets that we had
- [00:01:02.370]and now I would invite Braden
- [00:01:04.790]to come explore the different shapes.
- [00:01:06.870]We will go through each shape
- [00:01:08.870]and work through the name.
- [00:01:11.760]Depending on the age of your child,
- [00:01:14.280]they might be able to tell you
- [00:01:15.490]or you can just work with them
- [00:01:17.100]by giving them the vocabulary.
- [00:01:19.430]What shapes do we have Braden?
- [00:01:22.460]What shapes do you see?
- [00:01:27.500]You can adjust this activity
- [00:01:29.510]to however your child is interested.
- [00:01:34.520]You can expand on this activity
- [00:01:36.440]by exploring the different shapes with sorting,
- [00:01:40.050]your kids sort through all the magnets
- [00:01:42.830]and find triangles and squares
- [00:01:45.840]or any other shapes you have.
- [00:01:47.830]You could also explore this activity
- [00:01:49.760]by creating things out of your different shapes.
- [00:01:53.140]So, you could create a house
- [00:01:55.380]and talk about the shapes that you need to build a house,
- [00:01:59.530]by creating the outline
- [00:02:01.766]and then having the children work
- [00:02:03.870]through the different ways to build a house
- [00:02:06.830]in different shapes.
- [00:02:07.900]Thank you so much for joining us on this beautiful day.
- [00:02:11.170]We hope you have fun exploring this activity at home.
