- [00:00:10.240]My name is Luke and I handle course enrollment
- [00:00:12.670]for new student enrollment.
- [00:00:14.190]In this video, I will be explaining
- [00:00:16.460]how to view and understand your class schedule.
- [00:00:19.770]Once you have been enrolled, you will receive an e-mail
- [00:00:22.900]from NSE confirming your enrollment.
- [00:00:25.500]Attached to that e-mail, you will find your NSE worksheet,
- [00:00:28.730]which your advisor submitted to NSE.
- [00:00:31.920]On the left side of the worksheet,
- [00:00:33.370]you will find your enrolled classes.
- [00:00:37.150]The class purpose column will provide the reason
- [00:00:39.570]that you are enrolled in a certain course.
- [00:00:42.030]For example, it may list major, showing that this course
- [00:00:45.660]is required for your major.
- [00:00:47.760]It may also fulfill a minor or ACE requirement.
- [00:00:51.510]On the bottom of the worksheet,
- [00:00:53.200]you will find your advisor's contact information,
- [00:00:55.800]as well as notes your advisor made
- [00:00:57.640]after your advising meeting.

- [00:01:02.440]NSE staff use this worksheet to create your course schedule.
- [00:01:06.350]When doing this, we carefully consider course availability,
- [00:01:09.680]scheduling conflicts, course timing, and other factors.
- [00:01:13.740]To see your schedule, login to MyRED
- [00:01:16.430]and click the enrollment tab.
- [00:01:18.780]From here, you have two different ways
- [00:01:21.020]of viewing your schedule.
- [00:01:22.560]To see a basic class list with course names, locations,
- [00:01:26.310]times, and days, click the tab for the correct term
- [00:01:30.050]and then view schedule.
- [00:01:32.840]To see your list of courses displayed
- [00:01:35.160]as a weekly block schedule and to access the system
- [00:01:38.450]that you would use to enroll in courses
- [00:01:40.680]for future semesters, click the blue build schedule
- [00:01:43.840]and enroll button.
- [00:01:45.440]Select the correct term and then click current schedule
- [00:01:49.120]in the top red bar.
- [00:01:51.690]Your course list and block schedule will now appear.
- [00:01:55.230]If you scroll down to your block schedule,
- [00:01:57.550]you can see all your classes for the week.
- [00:02:00.215](upbeat music)
- [00:02:03.870]Both the list and block schedule provides you
- [00:02:06.370]with the location of the class, as well as the instructor,
- [00:02:09.360]and number of credits.
- [00:02:10.722](upbeat music)
- [00:02:12.810]On the course list, you may notice multiple rows
- [00:02:15.610]for the same class.
- [00:02:17.110]One row represents the lecture section of the class,
- [00:02:19.970]and any additional rows represent
- [00:02:22.160]a recitation, lab, or both.
- [00:02:25.040]A recitation is a course component that encourages
- [00:02:27.830]group discussion into deeper understanding
- [00:02:30.040]of the topics covered in lecture.
- [00:02:32.210]Recitation sizes are often much smaller than lecture sizes.
- [00:02:36.460]Labs often focus on the direct application of material
- [00:02:39.730]covered in lecture.
