- [00:00:10.910]I'm the Global Exchange Coordinator for the College of Education and Human
- [00:00:14.210]Sciences. Do you like maps? I love them.
- [00:00:19.470]There are artful renditions of the beautiful world that we all call home.
- [00:00:24.180]They make me think of the places I haven't been and remind me of the places I
- [00:00:28.070]have.
- [00:00:30.130]Do you like to travel or perhaps you haven't traveled but you really would like
- [00:00:34.750]to? If so, the College of Education and
- [00:00:38.120]Human Sciences is a great place to be. Where those two,
- [00:00:41.880]are coursework that focuses on global issues and international communities or
- [00:00:48.230]whether it's participating in one of our faculty-led study abroad experiences.
- [00:00:53.300]I think you'll find something for you in the College of Education
- [00:00:56.850]and Human Sciences.
- [00:00:59.380]When I was a first-generation college student myself here at the University of
- [00:01:02.350]Nebraska-Lincoln, I thought to myself, you know, I'd never traveled abroad.
- [00:01:06.900]It was just too expensive.
- [00:01:09.760]I had a lot of people help me find out ways to make it affordable and I'd like
- [00:01:13.310]to do the same for you.
- [00:01:16.840]We have a lot of different scholarships available to you.
- [00:01:19.720]At the university level right here or just for CEHS students here.
- [00:01:28.250]The ready, set, go seminar. Is one in particular that I like to talk about.
- [00:01:32.660]It's a preparedness seminar that I teach every single semester teaching you
- [00:01:36.530]about how to travel, what vaccines you might need, safety concerns, how to pack,
- [00:01:41.130]how to buy a plane ticket navigation. And if you complete that seminar,
- [00:01:45.300]you get a thousand dollars to use towards any one of the programs in our
- [00:01:48.180]college. So in addition to this seminar and the rest of the ones listed here,
- [00:01:53.430]you can significantly lower that first hurdle to studying abroad,
- [00:01:57.350]which is often financial.

- [00:02:15.980]now I know there's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now with the
- [00:02:19.350]challenges we face with the global pandemic of Covid-19.
- [00:02:23.000]We're being cautiously optimistic and planning for these programs with your safety as our top priority.

- [00:02:34.480]programming, we plan to move ahead.

- [00:02:56.250]It's a really neat way that we integrate globally-focused coursework with
- [00:03:00.820]international themes and studying abroad.
- [00:03:04.970]So if you take certain courses and you study abroad,
- [00:03:08.570]you could obtain the international studies minor.
- [00:03:11.830]So if you want to stay abroad during your time here in the College of
- [00:03:14.710]Education and Human Sciences.
- [00:03:16.680]You should talk to your advisor about this minor and see if it's right for you.
