- [00:00:02.100]Welcome to Nebraska Honors.
- [00:00:04.360]I'm Dr. Tamy Burnett, the Honors Assistant Director,
- [00:00:07.560]for academic enhancement.
- [00:00:09.540]Now that you're enrolled in fall classes,
- [00:00:11.680]I wanted to touch base about your schedule.
- [00:00:14.280]You should be in two Honors classes
- [00:00:16.044]that are required of all new Honors students
- [00:00:18.640]in their first semester.
- [00:00:20.220]A three credit, 189H seminar and a one credit UHON 101H.
- [00:00:28.090]The 189H seminars are always a favorite among our students.
- [00:00:32.370]And as I'm sure you saw,
- [00:00:33.630]there are a ton of exciting classes.
- [00:00:36.210]These are small sections,
- [00:00:37.526]and each class is only offered at one time.
- [00:00:40.740]This means you might not end up with your first choice,
- [00:00:43.560]but that's okay, every year students tell us
- [00:00:46.500]how much they love discovering new ideas in their 189H.
- [00:00:51.070]And I'm confident you'll also have a great experience.
- [00:00:55.000]These classes are taught by excellent faculty
- [00:00:57.300]who genuinely care about their students learning,
- [00:01:00.171]and about having fun along the way.
- [00:01:03.210]If you find that you need to make changes to your schedule,
- [00:01:06.190]please consult your academic advisor before doing anything
- [00:01:09.300]to make sure that the changes are in line
- [00:01:11.170]with your degree requirements.
- [00:01:13.120]If you need to make changes that affect your 189H,
- [00:01:16.460]or 101H enrollment specifically,
- [00:01:19.320]please also reach out to the Honors office
- [00:01:21.240]before making any changes.
- [00:01:23.460]We'd hate for you to give up your seat in one class
- [00:01:26.230]before being assured that you can enroll in a different one.
- [00:01:31.970]As you look ahead to this fall and beyond,
- [00:01:34.610]you'll have the whole Honors team
- [00:01:36.110]to serve as a resource for you.
- [00:01:38.270]Whether you're looking to talk about academic plans,
- [00:01:41.230]brainstorm experiential learning opportunities,
- [00:01:44.010]or start thinking about your Honors senior project.
- [00:01:47.230]We're here to help and to support you
- [00:01:49.380]during your time at UNL.
- [00:01:51.150]But we can't help you if we don't know you,
- [00:01:53.410]so don't be afraid to say hello, introduce yourself
- [00:01:56.860]or reach out with any questions.
- [00:02:01.540]One of the most valuable parts of your time
