- [00:00:01.600]Hello, my name is Corbin
- [00:00:03.360]and I am a well-being coach and psychology student.
- [00:00:06.590]Big Red Resilience and Well-being
- [00:00:08.010]is hosting a wake up to well-being series.
- [00:00:10.390]Today's topic is creating a vision board.
- [00:00:12.880]So I really liked this activity
- [00:00:14.380]because it brought more mindfulness to me
- [00:00:16.610]on what makes me happy and what brings me joy in general.
- [00:00:19.770]Vision boards have been done for years
- [00:00:21.620]to help individuals recognize what is important to them
- [00:00:24.270]and helps them visualize for what they are grateful.
- [00:00:29.220]So the process of making a vision board
- [00:00:31.110]can be done virtually or you can do a hard copy.
- [00:00:34.480]It is good to do this with someone by Zoom or Google Duo
- [00:00:37.480]if you want some interaction
- [00:00:38.750]because you can talk about what makes you both happy
- [00:00:41.620]and have a good time.
- [00:00:43.170]And it's also a great way to connect with others
- [00:00:45.330]and spend time together during COVID-19.
- [00:00:47.930]So the process, you can scan magazines or photos
- [00:00:51.540]and print them out or post them onto a word document.
- [00:00:54.540]And then while doing this,
- [00:00:56.100]you can just think about what makes you happy.
- [00:00:58.160]And if a picture brings you joy,
- [00:00:59.530]you can decide to cut it out and put them on there.
- [00:01:02.120]So then you can find paper for backing,
- [00:01:04.520]either card stock or if you want to do a word document
- [00:01:07.590]and start gluing them on.
- [00:01:08.720]And then you have your own collage of happiness.
- [00:01:13.110]So the idea is to keep these boards somewhere
- [00:01:15.840]you will see these every day.
- [00:01:17.260]They represent what is important to you.
- [00:01:19.800]It is important that you appreciate
- [00:01:21.140]and have gratitude for what you already have
- [00:01:22.900]in order for you to envision
- [00:01:24.060]having more happiness in your life.
- [00:01:26.240]This is a picture of Peyton Walker's vision board
- [00:01:28.260]created electronically.
- [00:01:29.740]This is what Peyton, a well-being coach
- [00:01:31.430]and supply chain major learned from doing this vision board.
- [00:01:34.890]She learned how to reflect and be grateful
- [00:01:36.570]for what she has to do during this time.
- [00:01:40.560]This is a picture of my own vision board
- [00:01:42.540]done by cutting pictures out of magazines
- [00:01:44.960]and putting them onto a poster board that I had at home.
- [00:01:48.910]I learned more about myself
- [00:01:50.140]because I was finding images that spoke to me
- [00:01:52.500]and I wasn't trying to dive deep into the meaning of them.
- [00:01:55.180]I never really thought about what types of things
- [00:01:57.050]help me refocus and bring me joy before.
- [00:01:59.530]But picking out the pictures that looks happy to me
- [00:02:01.400]made me more in tune with myself.
- [00:02:04.530]The benefits of practicing gratitude
- [00:02:06.230]and focusing on what makes you happy are many.
- [00:02:08.520]You'll feel better emotionally and physically.
- [00:02:10.950]You sleep better, your relationships are better,
- [00:02:13.540]and you're more motivated.
- [00:02:15.570]I'll leave you with a couple of quotes
- [00:02:17.000]to encourage you to create a vision board on your own.
- [00:02:19.560]It would be wonderful if you could tweet about these
- [00:02:21.400]and add the hashtag BRRWB
- [00:02:24.420]for Big Red Resilience and Well-being.
- [00:02:26.380]Have a great day.
