- [00:00:23.060]which is our way of knocking down the walls
- [00:00:24.860]of the museum and being able to take our
- [00:00:26.960]specimens and our knowledge here and giving it to
- [00:00:30.060]the students and the adults of the world.
- [00:00:32.460]Spring is the busiest time of year for school
- [00:00:35.050]field trips to Morrill-Hall on
- [00:00:35.970]the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus.
- [00:00:39.210]But the museum has also conducted
- [00:00:41.500]virtual field trips for five years.
- [00:00:44.170]Mumggaard says they were prepared when the museum
- [00:00:46.980]shut it's doors.
- [00:00:48.260]We have a great program to deal with learning
- [00:00:51.070]and to help support the learning of science
- [00:00:53.890]during this time when kids are stuck at home.
- [00:00:56.010]But magma can also oooz and it can flow
- [00:01:00.034]An elementary school teacher from
- [00:01:02.230]Louisville Nebraska, says the steady as a rock geology
- [00:01:05.680]field trip is built on material her
- [00:01:07.880]students are learning.
- [00:01:09.620]We just got done studying about rocks and layers
- [00:01:13.100]of the earth right before we had to do E-learning
- [00:01:17.200]so the kids were coming in with a nice base knowledge
- [00:01:19.850]and they really took off with it.
- [00:01:22.490]They love the hands on
- [00:01:24.980]using Zoom
- [00:01:26.100]the popular video conference platform
- [00:01:28.530]students have joined the field trips
- [00:01:30.380]from across the state, the nation
- [00:01:32.570]and even other countries.
- [00:01:34.260]And I know have friends
- [00:01:35.350]who are coming in from all over the place
- [00:01:37.220]which is fantastic.
- [00:01:38.053]It's a way for the museum to continue
- [00:01:40.260]carrying out its mission.

- [00:01:46.400]the anxiety level in my house just like the world
- [00:01:49.080]is kind of high.
- [00:01:50.040]It's super nice that we all can offer programs like this
- [00:01:53.030]and allow kids to learn, use their hands
- [00:01:55.530]and continue on with their life's in that way
- [00:01:58.550]and so I feel kind of honored to be able to do it.
