- [00:00:07.523]Hi everyone it's a beautiful day.
- [00:00:10.092]This afternoon I really want to focus on Crosby
- [00:00:14.510]having some time for independent play.
- [00:00:16.504]I am sitting on the floor to show his creation
- [00:00:19.607]from this morning.
- [00:00:20.964]He made a little bed underneath the dining room table,
- [00:00:25.551]and he has his lantern there in case it gets dark.
- [00:00:29.795]So I'm just gonna take some time to set up a little area
- [00:00:33.539]that's really inviting with his toys,
- [00:00:36.177]and I'll set them up in ways that he can extend the play
- [00:00:39.210]on his own while I'm maybe doing something else.
- [00:00:43.506]So I'm going to be choosing toys that are open-ended
- [00:00:46.970]meaning that he can play with them in many different ways,
- [00:00:49.445]however his imagination takes over,
- [00:00:51.543]and I'm really excited to transform his little bed
- [00:00:54.870]under the table into something that he can really spend
- [00:00:57.530]a lot of time with playing with
- [00:00:58.900]after he wakes up from his nap.
- [00:01:01.413]I just grabbed some toys that I know he really loves
- [00:01:04.219]to play with, and I set them up in way
- [00:01:06.394]that is inviting him to play with these certain toys
- [00:01:09.343]in this space that I created.
- [00:01:11.793]It took me less than five minutes to set up.
- [00:01:14.900]I added some books to his bed that he's already created
- [00:01:18.993]and I put his lantern up there so he's able to see it.
- [00:01:21.804]I have a blanket up on one side and I'll toss a blanket
- [00:01:25.711]on the other side to create a fort that he's been
- [00:01:28.371]really loving the past couple of weeks.

- [00:02:01.540]Crosby has already been playing here for about 15 minutes.
- [00:02:05.220]Let's check in on him.
- [00:02:09.191]Are you having fun, Cros?
- [00:02:10.764]Yeah. What are you playing with?
- [00:02:12.595]I'm playing with my fire truck.
- [00:02:15.407](babbling)
- [00:02:18.786]but they're not gonna be happy.
- [00:02:21.281](babbling)
- [00:02:25.683]They won't be happy.
- [00:02:27.370]Oh my goodness.
- [00:02:28.203]It sounds like you're having a lot of fun.
- [00:02:36.797]If you have a child or children that are really into art
- [00:02:39.979]and creating things, you can set up an art station
- [00:02:43.555]with paper, markers, stencils,
- [00:02:47.916]crayons, anything really you have around the house
- [00:02:50.868]that they could use for art,
- [00:02:53.064]and just set it up on the table.
- [00:02:55.667]Have them a special spot that they can sit at
- [00:02:57.000]and then you can have them independently play there as well.
- [00:03:01.800]I hope that everyone has a beautiful day,
- [00:03:04.096]and remember to keep checking the page for new videos.
- [00:03:07.935]Thanks.
