This video is intended to help Nebraska's chemigators get started using the online certification/recertification training program. NDEE is currently allowing initial certification testing to be un-proctored.

[00:00:04.530]to walk you through the On-line Chemigation Training.
[00:00:07.960]For the On-line Chemigation Training,
[00:00:09.530]there are two websites that you need to be familiar with.
[00:00:12.630]The first one is the Applicator Certification Number
[00:00:15.040]which is the first website on the screen.
[00:00:17.700]This is important information for those individuals
[00:00:20.410]that are recertifying
[00:00:21.630]their Chemigation Applicator Certification.
[00:00:24.610]At the completion of your training,
[00:00:26.890]you will be required to put
[00:00:28.040]in your Chemigation Applicator Certification Number.
[00:00:31.190]This number can be found on the yellow Chemigation card
[00:00:34.230]that you received four years ago
[00:00:36.670]from the Nebraska Department Environmental Quality,
[00:00:38.830]now called the Nebraska Department of Environment
[00:00:41.030]and Energy.
[00:00:42.300]If you're unable to find that yellow card,
[00:00:44.970]you need to visit,
[00:00:45.850]https://go.unl.edu/chemigation-applicator-search
[00:00:53.110]and we are going to go to that website now.
[00:00:55.870]That is going to take you to
[00:00:57.390]the Nebraska Department of Environment
[00:00:58.990]and Energies Chemigation Applicator search engine.
[00:01:02.410]When you look at certification status,
[00:01:04.550]there is an arrow that says Active/Inactive.
[00:01:07.630]I would like you to click on the arrow
[00:01:09.100]and click Active/Inactive.
[00:01:11.660]If you are recertifying,
[00:01:13.517]your Chemigation Applicator Certification
[00:01:16.640]expired January first of this year,
[00:01:19.300]that puts you in an inactive state.
[00:01:22.410]I prefer picking Active/Inactive so that way
[00:01:25.170]if you're off on your dates on when you need
[00:01:28.550]to recertify your name still comes up.
[00:01:30.210]So click Active/Iinactive.
[00:01:32.440]You're welcome to fill out as much information as you want
[00:01:35.210]before you hit the search engine.
[00:01:36.940]I typically go to Applicator name
[00:01:39.330]and for today we're gonna put in my name, Amy Timmerman,
[00:01:44.370]and we're gonna hit search.
[00:01:47.440]It comes up with my name, there's only one Amy Timmerman D.
[00:01:50.650]in the state of Nebraska with
[00:01:51.930]a Chemigation Applicator Certification.
[00:01:54.490]On the left hand side that 48871 where my cursor is at
[00:01:59.130]that is my Certification number.
[00:02:01.150]This is this number I will need to write down somewhere
[00:02:04.270]and hold on to until I complete
[00:02:06.820]the On-line Chemigation Training
[00:02:08.520]to complete my recertification.
[00:02:11.160]If you're uncertain if I need to be recertifying this year,
[00:02:13.990]or if I have a year or two still left on my certification,
[00:02:17.780]we're gonna go to the right hand side of the screen,
[00:02:20.030]right here where it has expiration date.
[00:02:22.370]As you can see for my Chemigation application certification,
[00:02:26.100]it does not expire until January first of 2022,
[00:02:30.045]so I have two more years before I need to go through
[00:02:32.240]the training again.
[00:02:34.320]Once we have that number, we're gonna start looking
[00:02:36.610]at the training itself,
[00:02:37.540]we'll go back to the PowerPoint slide.
[00:02:39.900]The training here, this is the place if your initial
[00:02:43.410]or recertification everybody needs to go to.
[00:02:46.390]And that website is https://go.unl.edu/chemigation-training.
[00:02:52.950]And let's click on there and go there right now.
[00:02:56.250]That is gonna take you to the Chemigation website
[00:02:58.620]which is located on water.unl.edu.
[00:03:02.350]This is the main page for all the Chemigation information
[00:03:05.040]that you will be using throughout the year.
[00:03:07.510]As we scroll down the screen,
[00:03:09.930]we're gonna go halfway down the website
[00:03:13.330]until we come to online certification
[00:03:15.210]which is located right here.
[00:03:17.320]It's gonna give us information on how to complete
[00:03:20.080]the training which we are doing right now.
[00:03:22.460]If you're an individual that would much prefer
[00:03:24.610]a written direction versus visual or verbal,
[00:03:28.150]please go to directions part one and directions part two,
[00:03:32.610]and read the directions step by step there.

[00:03:41.290]The main place where I would like you to go is right here
[00:03:43.990]where it says proceed to Nebraska Chemigation Training.
[00:03:47.000]This is where you will need to click
[00:03:49.800]to go into the training itself.
[00:03:51.550]We're gonna click on the link
[00:03:53.090]and that's gonna direct you to an eXtension website.
[00:03:56.350]eXtension is the organization that
[00:04:00.050]is hosting the Chemigation training.
[00:04:03.030]This is a location majority of you
[00:04:04.590]have never been to before.
[00:04:06.440]So we need to be able to log into the website.
[00:04:09.430]So we are going to come up to the upper right hand corner
[00:04:12.280]where there's this orangish yellowish looking box
[00:04:16.030]that says login.
[00:04:17.270]We're gonna click on login.
[00:04:20.310]As you're gonna see, I am a member of eXtension
[00:04:22.810]so my username and password already multiply
[00:04:26.890]into those areas.
[00:04:28.250]But for the majority of you,
[00:04:29.330]this is your first time to the website.
[00:04:31.330]So we are going to venture on down to
[00:04:33.040]is this your first time here.
[00:04:34.940]At this point in time, you can click create a new account
[00:04:38.210]or you can click on account creation formation
[00:04:40.900]and this is what I am gonna click on today.
[00:04:44.500]The account creation form
[00:04:45.830]is just a typical registration form.
[00:04:49.010]You're gonna create a username, your password,
[00:04:52.600]and your email address is required to put in here.
[00:04:55.740]We're then gonna go down into personal information
[00:04:58.750]such as first name and last name.
[00:05:01.410]Lets scroll down the window a little bit further.
[00:05:03.910]You're gonna need to select No
[00:05:05.910]I am not an eXtension employee.
[00:05:08.600]And then once we click No
[00:05:09.730]when it says institution email domain,
[00:05:12.000]click on the arrow and say any,

[00:05:16.280]And then you're gonna fill in the rest of the information
[00:05:18.220]such as address, city, county, state and zip code.
[00:05:25.022]Your phone number is optional
[00:05:26.740]it's not required to be put in here.

[00:05:31.550]is required to be fully logged in.
[00:05:34.400]Once you have all your information in
[00:05:35.847]you're gonna click Create Account,
[00:05:38.060]you will receive an email from me eXtension saying
[00:05:41.260]and verifying that yes, you have become a member
[00:05:43.360]of the eXtension and that you may need
[00:05:45.950]to verify your account.
[00:05:48.630]I am going to take us back to the main window
[00:05:51.890]where we will log in.
[00:05:53.320]So once you verified you're gonna come back here
[00:05:55.580]put in your username, your password, and then click Login
[00:06:00.150]That's what we're gonna do right now.
[00:06:01.970]We're gonna log into eXtension
[00:06:03.900]and it's gonna take us back to this home screen
[00:06:06.160]which is eXtension Online Campus.
[00:06:09.100]We're gonna go to the search courses right here
[00:06:11.650]and type in Nebraska Chemigation and hit go.
[00:06:19.270]This is gonna search out
[00:06:20.550]for the Nebraska Chemigation Training.
[00:06:22.450]As you can see, there's only one course that comes up.
[00:06:25.340]We're gonna click Yes to that one.
[00:06:27.603]Just put your cursor over the top, click it,
[00:06:30.170]and it's gonna take you directly
[00:06:31.990]to the training site itself.
[00:06:35.800]If it doesn't take you directly to the training
[00:06:37.810]it may have been asking you to confirm Yes,
[00:06:40.820]you wanna go to this training and then you click Yes.
[00:06:43.980]The first place you need to go
[00:06:45.340]is this License Status Selection
[00:06:47.150]which is on the upper part
[00:06:48.150]of your screen right there in blue.
[00:06:50.280]We're gonna click License Data Selection
[00:06:52.200]and this is important to let the program know
[00:06:55.110]am I recertifying or am I a first time certifier.
[00:06:59.990]I'm gonna scroll down the window.
[00:07:01.520]So as you can see here, this is first time certification
[00:07:05.070]so if your initial Chemigation Applicator,
[00:07:07.840]you're gonna come over here
[00:07:08.680]and then click on this gray button and say become a member.
[00:07:12.150]If you're a recertifying,
[00:07:13.530]you will come right back down to this area
[00:07:16.340]where it says recertification or retest
[00:07:18.840]and click on become a member.
[00:07:20.640]I am gonna say I am recertifying
[00:07:22.580]so I'm gonna click become a member.
[00:07:26.090]It's gonna ask me Do I really wanna become
[00:07:28.650]a member of this group?
[00:07:30.080]I'm gonna click Yes,
[00:07:31.310]I wanna become become a member of this group.
[00:07:35.090]It's gonna take me back to this window.
[00:07:37.510]I am now a member of this group,
[00:07:39.120]it says leave group if you don't wanna be part of it
[00:07:41.530]or if I messed up, and I really should be initial
[00:07:44.110]I hit leave group and then I would go back
[00:07:45.940]and say first time certification and say add that group.
[00:07:50.350]Once you're in this correct group,
[00:07:52.570]we're gonna click on next activity
[00:07:54.210]and we're gonna click on that button right there.
[00:07:57.380]And this will jump us right into that first module.
[00:08:00.630]So the modules are disarraign,
[00:08:04.020]we're gonna click one more time.
[00:08:05.500]Next activity is introduction, sorry.
[00:08:10.090]We're gonna click on that all the modules
[00:08:12.610]are gonna be through video format.
[00:08:15.000]So we are going to hit play on the video module,
[00:08:19.830]it will play the video at the completion of the module
[00:08:23.030]you will have a quiz that you must complete and pass
[00:08:26.320]before you can move on to the next module.
[00:08:28.950]It is important to note that you need to pay close attention
[00:08:32.960]as you watch the videos.
[00:08:34.950]There is a random number or letter that pops up somewhere
[00:08:38.560]during the video.
[00:08:39.810]You need to be able to put that number
[00:08:42.360]or letter into the quiz before you can complete it.
[00:08:46.410]If you do not know that number or letter,
[00:08:49.940]you will have to re-watch the whole module again.
[00:08:52.870]So please pay close attention as you're watching the videos
[00:08:56.220]and don't turn it on and walk away,
[00:08:57.700]you need to be paying attention.
[00:08:59.880]At the completion of each module
[00:09:03.150]and you've completed your quizzes,
[00:09:05.660]you will then have the option to test.
[00:09:08.490]And I'm gonna go take us back to our PowerPoint slide

[00:09:14.350]If you are recertifying it is at that point in time
[00:09:17.250]you'll enter your Chemigation Applicator Number
[00:09:19.440]before the test.
[00:09:21.160]For 2020, the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy
[00:09:25.540]has given the permission for initial Applicators
[00:09:28.210]the ability to test on-line.
[00:09:30.090]This is brand new for 2020.
[00:09:32.990]So if you are an initial Applicator
[00:09:35.100]where it says Chemigation Applicator Number,
[00:09:37.590]you're going to type in the word "initial"
[00:09:40.350]and at the completion,
[00:09:41.910]the Department of Environment and Energy
[00:09:43.570]will issue you a Chemigation Applicator Number
[00:09:46.840]at the completion before they send you your card.
[00:09:50.550]Once you have all this information completed,
[00:09:53.230]you will then be walked through the 50 question test.
[00:09:57.430]You must pass that test before
[00:10:00.200]you receive your Chemigation Applicator Number.
[00:10:03.230]At the completion of completing the test successfully,
[00:10:06.750]your information will be shared
[00:10:08.330]with the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy
[00:10:11.240]and they will mail you
[00:10:12.870]your new Chemigation Applicator Certification card.
