[00:00:05.090]Hi, I'm Mary Morton.
[00:00:06.360]I'm a Management major in the College of Business
[00:00:08.740]at the University of Nebraska Lincoln
[00:00:10.680]and I'm excited to welcome you to our college.
[00:00:13.030]Let's go check it out.
[00:00:16.430]Park's Hall features high tech classrooms designed
[00:00:19.180]for collaboration and hands on learning.
[00:00:21.284]Beyond classrooms, our building offers students spaces
[00:00:25.160]to study, visit with faculty and friends,
[00:00:27.950]get something to eat or just hang out.
[00:00:30.400]One reason why I love our building is that
[00:00:32.760]everything you need to access to college
[00:00:34.440]can be found right here.
[00:00:36.250]Let's go check out more.
[00:00:38.516]The College of Business has a team of advisors
[00:00:41.110]available Monday through Friday to assist us
[00:00:43.152]as we navigate through college.
[00:00:45.345]This is Mark Davis, an advisor for our college.
[00:00:48.700]Mark, what advice do you have for a new student to business?
[00:00:52.270]I think it's really important for students
[00:00:53.830]to join student organizations.
[00:00:56.550]Make sure you join something not only within the college
[00:00:59.310]but something specifically for your major.
[00:01:01.850]That's the best way to meet up students
[00:01:03.670]and also connect with faculty.
[00:01:07.350]Here we're at the Clifton Strengths Institute.
[00:01:09.770]The institute's purpose is to identify and maximize
[00:01:12.840]the talent of college students to guide personal,
[00:01:15.590]professional and leadership development
[00:01:17.840]through the years and application
[00:01:19.480]of Strengths Space Science.
[00:01:21.030]Taylor, can you tell us more about the Clifton Strengths?
[00:01:24.753]So there are a couple ways that you can learn
[00:01:26.010]about Clifton Strengths here.
[00:01:27.051]First, all students of the College of Business
[00:01:29.210]will take a class with us called Business Administration,
[00:01:31.780]where they'll learn about Strengths Theory
[00:01:33.500]and they get paired with a student Strengths coach.
[00:01:35.730]Our coaches are fabulous for learning more
[00:01:37.630]about talents and how they can be applied.
[00:01:39.770]Also we have a great website where you can learn about
[00:01:41.830]all of our programs.
[00:01:43.220]Plus this space is a community room so we see
[00:01:45.920]students here all the time studying, having lunch here,
[00:01:48.780]connecting, so we encourage our students to come here
[00:01:51.270]to learn more about our programs as well.
[00:01:55.870]The College of Business has its own dedicated career center
[00:01:59.000]to help connect business students with career
[00:02:01.370]and professional development opportunities.
[00:02:03.540]Here, we have Rachel, the director
[00:02:05.490]of the Business Career Center.
[00:02:07.090]Rachel, can you tell us more about your department?
[00:02:09.100]Yes, we work with students one-on-one
[00:02:12.050]as well as with our Professional Enhancement Program courses
[00:02:15.120]to explore majors and careers and help apply
[00:02:18.250]and search for opportunities such as internships
[00:02:20.770]and full time positions.
[00:02:22.320]We also bring in employers every single day
[00:02:24.646]through our Employment Residence Program
[00:02:26.950]and you can see just a list of them right here
[00:02:29.840]to make sure that employers and students are connecting
[00:02:33.150]for these opportunities.
[00:02:34.490]So our whole goal is to make sure that students
[00:02:36.730]are leaving the College of Business,
[00:02:38.382]confident, professional and connected
[00:02:40.590]for lifelong career success.
[00:02:42.280]Wow, thanks Rachel.
[00:02:46.010]Thank you for joining me
[00:02:47.160]and welcome to the College of Business family.
[00:02:49.410]We're so excited to have you join us next year.
[00:02:52.100]If you're interested in learning more
[00:02:53.410]or wanna stop by on campus, please feel free
[00:02:55.470]to join us on a Husker Weekday or a Red Letter Day.
