- [00:00:04.480]Good question, what should we call it?
- [00:00:07.710]Field Family Company.
- [00:00:25.010]Dots and the CH stands for computer
- [00:00:31.400]If I had stayed in the Association world
- [00:00:35.640]There would have been no
- [00:00:37.570]connection to my work and
- [00:00:39.770]these children, they would
- [00:00:41.101]have that work would have
- [00:00:42.477]seemed like some like that
- [00:00:43.998]someplace dad goes.
- [00:00:54.640]So I grew up in western Colorado my family has been in the ranching business for
- [00:01:00.370]More than 100 years. So we started our time at the University of Nebraska in
- [00:01:07.330]2012. Somebody said why would you
- [00:01:11.440]uproot yourself and had never lived outside of Colorado for an extended period of time.
- [00:01:16.750]Why would you uproot your family and come here.
- [00:01:20.239]The timing was a bit challenging.
- [00:01:22.750]My wife, Laura, she happened to be pregnant with Kate & Coleman.
- [00:01:29.560]Got the offer and made the decision.
- [00:01:32.380]But it was a, we did a lot of change all once.
- [00:01:36.970]Two new babies, new job, new place. I mean it was...
- [00:01:41.710]We loaded up on the change wagon when we came out, but it's been worth it.
- [00:01:48.249]They've been part of this
- [00:01:51.159]adventure. And hopefully an appropriate way, but the Engler programs touched them as much as
- [00:01:57.280]as it's maybe touched anybody.
- [00:02:00.009]My one word is kindness.
- [00:02:04.689]I try to be that way with my friends in school.
- [00:02:09.160]They have done one word just like the other students do. They have a one word
- [00:02:17.779]I think it's always fun. I'm doing encouragement.
- [00:02:21.290]Kate can actually give you a little opinion on devotion strategy. They
- [00:02:25.850]have some opinions about five levels of leadership. Don't use the red strategy
- [00:02:30.490]That's the bad strategy because that would be another blood red
- [00:02:35.960]path that you're gonna go down and you're probably gonna turn the negative road.
- [00:02:39.860]But you want to use your blue ocean that's clearer where you can
- [00:02:45.320]accomplish all the things that you want to accomplish.
- [00:02:48.200]They look at the pictures on the walls of all the students and
- [00:02:52.100]the sort of brand identifiers and they one, they can name students and secondly,
- [00:02:57.400]they know a little bit about what they're doing and why they're doing it.
- [00:03:00.440]You ask them who their favorite students are and they will talk about Morgan Colors and
- [00:03:06.410]I'll be forever grateful to Morgan because
- [00:03:09.860]because of Morgan,
- [00:03:11.360]they see the world and they see people of
- [00:03:15.230]differences. Differently than they might have without her.
- [00:03:18.980]She fits them perfectly.
- [00:03:21.350]No matter if you're in a
- [00:03:22.490]wheelchair or if you're if you stand and walk that you're still the same.
- [00:03:29.240]You're still an Engler student. They have an affinity for
- [00:03:34.280]the culture, they have an affinity for the place. I mean this is where they were born. And so
- [00:03:40.070]you know, hopefully the entrepreneurship
- [00:03:43.090]rubs off on both of them.
- [00:03:45.110]Yeah, what about the entrepreneur question what does it mean?
- [00:03:51.740]It means trying to do something. You're building
- [00:03:54.980]You're trying to build up a company and everybody is
- [00:03:59.630]helping you. The more people that help you the bigger it becomes. Coleman will talk about he's got a I
- [00:04:06.920]Asked him the other day I said so what would you build if you were gonna start a business?
- [00:04:11.080]if I would build something it would be
- [00:04:12.880]to help homeless people. We've tried to
- [00:04:15.620]make this experience part of their experience because
- [00:04:17.420]if I really believe it then she'd should be good enough for my kids as well.
- [00:04:22.940]What I really hope is is that they will be
- [00:04:25.880]challenged and fulfilled and
- [00:04:28.490]that they'll be okay
- [00:04:30.200]with the work and hardship and the struggle that goes with actually pursuing
- [00:04:35.780]their purpose.
- [00:04:37.790]That's what I hope they find. I hope they find a deep sense of purpose because that's
- [00:04:44.150]how human beings are fulfilled.
