[00:00:21.480]My county agent at the time told me about it
[00:00:24.770]and I though hmm, that sound interesting,
[00:00:26.850]I guess I'll go and see what it's like.
[00:00:29.550]I found out when I got there,
[00:00:31.610]I could actually talk to women about farming.

[00:00:35.870]I haven't missed a one since.
[00:00:40.871]The workshops were all very interesting
[00:00:43.280]and I had a terrible time deciding
[00:00:44.860]which one to go to. (laughs)
[00:00:46.230]I would love to be able to go to all of them.
[00:00:48.700]Of course, in 35 years,
[00:00:50.060]I've probably covered most of them anyhow,
[00:00:52.630]but that's okay.
[00:00:54.170]The year that I celebrated my 80th birthday at Women in Ag,
[00:00:58.220]it turned out that we had a horrible snowstorm.
[00:01:00.810]Instead of celebrating my birthday
[00:01:02.700]with 400 of my good friends,
[00:01:04.820]I celebrated with 200 of my very best friends.
[00:01:08.062]The reason Women in Ag is so very important,
[00:01:11.310]aside from the fact that it gets women
[00:01:13.040]together to talk about farming,
[00:01:14.648]is that it stresses the fact
[00:01:17.150]that women are the, really,
[00:01:19.640]a very important part about the farm.
[00:01:22.870]I know for sure, it's one of the main reasons I go.
[00:01:25.570]I think it's one of the main reasons a lot of women go,
[00:01:28.163]is to get that interaction between women
[00:01:31.036]with the background of farming. (laughs)
[00:01:34.520]How are things different now than in '85? (laughs)
[00:01:38.510]Well, for one thing,
[00:01:39.690]I probably have slowed down a little bit,
[00:01:41.950]only I won't admit it.

[00:01:49.840]about farming, about ag in general
[00:01:52.503]and about our lives and family on the farm,
