- [00:00:00.210]Lincoln is one of the top safest cities
- [00:00:03.040]in the United States.
- [00:00:04.180]So, can you talk about your experience with that,
- [00:00:06.960]and what have you felt being on campus?
- [00:00:09.754]I think Lincoln is indeed really one of the safest
- [00:00:13.664]place I have ever been to.
- [00:00:15.910]I am a person who studies late in libraries and stuff,
- [00:00:20.282]so I have walked alone at 1:30 am.
- [00:00:24.160]I never felt unsafe about it,
- [00:00:25.940]and if you are not even comfortable to walk alone
- [00:00:28.670]we have police around who can drive you to your home.
- [00:00:31.620]So, it's super super safe and super super nice.
- [00:00:35.000]So how do you think the campus community
- [00:00:37.347]makes sure that students feel safe on campus?
- [00:00:41.720]So one thing I would like to talk about
- [00:00:43.890]is the UNL alert system.
- [00:00:46.310]So, it's a notification system which gives You
- [00:00:49.540]notifications on your emails or on your cell phones
- [00:00:53.206]if you have any kind of emergency,
- [00:00:55.550]any severe weather changes.
- [00:00:57.080]So that's the one thing, so every student is in that system
- [00:01:00.780]so you get updates every now and then.
- [00:01:03.170]And the next number is, I would say,
- [00:01:05.060]the emergency number that is 911,
- [00:01:07.650]you just call on that number and the police
- [00:01:09.690]will immediately come and assist you
- [00:01:11.343]with whatever help you need.
- [00:01:13.280]It's a wind storm over here.
- [00:01:14.506](laughs)
- [00:01:15.339](upbeat music)
- [00:01:18.210]Okay, so it looks like we are getting close
- [00:01:21.380]to UNL's Health center.
- [00:01:23.200]It is a brand new facility,
- [00:01:25.218]and it also house the nursing program inside.
- [00:01:28.730]The UNL Health Center offers a number
- [00:01:30.870]of services to students.
- [00:01:32.330]First and foremost, the counseling
- [00:01:34.060]and psychological services is in here.
- [00:01:36.680]So if students are struggling with academics
- [00:01:39.937]or social issues, or maybe culture shock or homesickness,
- [00:01:44.448]students can go to the health center
- [00:01:46.410]and meet with a therapist for free.
- [00:01:48.670]And it's completely confidential.
- [00:01:50.530]Another thing that they have at the Health Center
- [00:01:52.720]is a pharmacy and then general physicians as well.
- [00:01:56.640]So students can essentially get all of their health services
- [00:01:59.799]here on UNL's campus.
- [00:02:01.984](upbeat music)
