[00:00:09.033]it's great to be back in tournament season,
[00:00:10.860]with the volleyball team,
[00:00:12.000]and to see the plays start tonight,
[00:00:14.500]and be interesting to see where our team goes
[00:00:17.386]in the tournament this year.
[00:00:18.940]How proud are you as the leader of UNL,
[00:00:21.438]that Nebraska volleyball
[00:00:23.072]represents your institution, your university?
[00:00:26.248]Well, you know, I'm very proud, first of all.
[00:00:29.480]You know, the fact that we have had such consistent success
[00:00:32.760]at the national level. You sit in Devaney,
[00:00:35.510]you see these banners and you see what they reflect,
[00:00:38.760]and the length of time of that success,
[00:00:41.570]and the consistency of it.
[00:00:43.392]The student athletes are phenomenal to watch and to observe,
[00:00:48.090]to see their level of excellence.
[00:00:50.660]The coaching staff and the support that they have here
[00:00:53.750]has been par excellence throughout for so long
[00:00:57.090]a period of time, certainly with John and his staff now,
[00:01:00.470]and built on Terry Petit before. You know, it's just,
[00:01:03.160]it's a thing of beauty to watch and beyond that,
[00:01:06.277]the fact these young women are superb students.
[00:01:10.928]They embody the term student athlete in every respect.

[00:01:20.200]And Chancellor, a lot of folks in the state
[00:01:23.151]raised children who dream about coming to the University,
[00:01:26.670]but accessibility, affordability are issues
[00:01:29.200]in post secondary, post high school education.
[00:01:32.340]What do you say to the parents around the state
[00:01:34.600]and the country about the value of UNL?
[00:01:37.210]Well, you know, we're approaching another graduation
[00:01:40.630]coming up here pretty soon in a couple of weeks,
[00:01:42.760]before the holidays and seeing them cross the finish line
[00:01:46.971]on the other side, the students who come to us
[00:01:50.330]as freshman and knowing the value that that education
[00:01:54.269]is going to have for them, the return on the investment
[00:01:58.050]of that education,
[00:02:00.010]how they'll see that play throughout their lives,
[00:02:02.880]you know, upwards of a million dollars difference
[00:02:05.317]in the value of a four-year degree
[00:02:08.380]versus not having beyond high school education.
[00:02:13.290]Just from the pure economic context beyond what their lives
[00:02:16.970]will be enriched through that education.
[00:02:19.419]The fact that we are an accessible, you know,
[00:02:22.870]institution here is something we're very proud of
[00:02:25.310]at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
[00:02:27.320]A hundred fifty years we've been engaged in this business
[00:02:30.380]and accessibility to the highest value education
[00:02:33.285]is still what we're all about here at this great university.
[00:02:36.681]So, exciting time for us to be thinking about graduation.
[00:02:41.510]Hard for me to believe, it's going to be almost here.
[00:02:43.770]Another graduation in a couple of weeks, and at the same
[00:02:47.010]time, talking about that incoming class that'll be coming to
[00:02:50.293]us in the fall of 2020, as they're sorting out where they
[00:02:53.630]want to go. And I can tell them there's no better place
[00:02:56.870]than here at Nebraska.
