- [00:01:13.070]Yeah, I would love to share something about my parents.
- [00:01:16.430]My dad had only one year of education.
- [00:01:20.040]My mom, she had three years of education.
- [00:01:23.650]So no one before me, no one else made it to the college.
- [00:01:28.390]So I was the first one, first generation, very lucky.
- [00:01:33.590]And I do believe principle, they matter a lot
- [00:01:37.710]to the school and teachers as well.
- [00:01:40.260]I had a math teacher and one time he talked to my dad
- [00:01:44.250]saying, "Your son will not make it to college
- [00:01:47.207]"because his math is horrible."
- [00:01:51.460]Later on, very luckily I had a new math teacher.
- [00:01:55.320]And this new math teacher had, changed my life.
- [00:01:58.410]The first math teacher, he didn't believe me.
- [00:02:02.180]He didn't believe I can improve myself.
- [00:02:05.170]But the second math teacher, he really believed me.
- [00:02:07.870]He encouraged me a lot.
- [00:02:11.090]He told me, "You will improve."
- [00:02:13.610]So that's a huge difference.
- [00:02:17.460]So I improved my math and then made it to college
- [00:02:20.590]but also I majored in math, became a math teacher.
- [00:02:25.100]Now today when I looking back at myself,
- [00:02:27.590]I'm teaching statistics, teaching quantitative
- [00:02:30.960]research methods, so incredible.
- [00:02:33.600]My family love Nebraska and we realize
- [00:02:37.200]we have great public schools and we love public schools
- [00:02:41.110]and this is a very very unique thing.
- [00:02:44.750]I love to play with my kids
- [00:02:48.715]so I co-coaching my kids' soccer
- [00:02:52.950]and also go fishing with them and take them to state parks
- [00:02:58.740]and reading books with them as well.
- [00:03:01.200]I love teaching.
- [00:03:03.515]I spend a lot of time on teaching because I have a heart
- [00:03:07.340]as a teacher.

- [00:03:12.030]I love the teaching,
- [00:03:13.540]love the feeling of working with my students,
- [00:03:16.880]seeing them to growth.
- [00:03:19.010]So that's something in my heart.
- [00:03:21.200]I see this job as a very important one
- [00:03:23.590]so I can help my students to improve their learning
- [00:03:27.270]about school leadership and so they can go back
- [00:03:29.920]to do quality work to improve their schools.
- [00:03:32.690]The students, they realize research does matter.
- [00:03:36.920]So they came here, not only just to have a degree,
- [00:03:40.260]but also they really learn something about research
- [00:03:43.350]so when they go back,
- [00:03:44.830]they can integrate research with their practice.
- [00:03:48.360]Those students will be the most successful in the field.
- [00:03:52.270]If you believe research matters,
