- [00:00:00.920]Okay, thanks all for bearing
- [00:00:03.650]with us a little bit.
- [00:00:04.610]Make sure you have your mute on,
- [00:00:06.270]because we did not get the participants muted.
- [00:00:11.650]If you have anything to share make sure you're doing
- [00:00:13.500]it through the chat.
- [00:00:18.410]Okay, well welcome again to another PED Talk,
- [00:00:20.820]if you've been here before,
- [00:00:22.360]we thank you for coming back.
- [00:00:24.240]We know you have a lot going on in your lives,
- [00:00:26.150]and investing this hour with us is
- [00:00:30.100]really appreciated by this team.
- [00:00:33.010]So with me today are Sydney Zach, Emily Batey,
- [00:00:38.560]and Mary Mitilier.
- [00:00:40.420]And today the topic is Navigating eSHOP Suppliers.
- [00:00:55.628]So the first thing we're going to talk about,
- [00:00:57.510]just a little bit to preview what we're doing here
- [00:01:00.490]is the types of catalogs that we have,
- [00:01:03.060]and our catalog suppliers, and what they are,
- [00:01:05.490]and how we get them.
- [00:01:07.790]And then what matters when we're choosing suppliers,
- [00:01:11.070]or when you're choosing suppliers to work with.
- [00:01:14.330]And then a little introduction about what some
- [00:01:16.510]of our catalog suppliers offer,
- [00:01:18.550]in case you're not familiar with the lines of products.
- [00:01:22.310]And then we'll hit that searching catalog,
- [00:01:26.340]or searching suppliers in eSHOP.
- [00:01:28.190]And I'll show you four different ways to do that.
- [00:01:34.860]So first we'll talk about our catalog suppliers,
- [00:01:41.100]and then we'll go out to eSHOP and look at them afterwards.
- [00:01:45.520]So PunchOut suppliers, they're always going
- [00:01:47.830]to have this little marker in front of the supplier's name,
- [00:01:53.120]as well as all the product items,
- [00:01:54.910]as you're looking in the product search.
- [00:01:58.210]We currently have 43 PunchOuts,
- [00:02:00.480]but we have 11 more that are working
- [00:02:03.450]on enablement right now.
- [00:02:04.770]So you'll continue to see more and more added,
- [00:02:07.310]so always come back and look.
- [00:02:11.200]A PunchOut supplier, what happens is when you click
- [00:02:13.920]the little tile on the homepage,
- [00:02:15.630]and most of you should be familiar with those tiles,
- [00:02:17.710]like Office Depot, for example.
- [00:02:20.230]When you click on that, it goes to a web-based catalog
- [00:02:23.230]that's been designed for us.
- [00:02:26.950]We have limited ability to tell the vendor what to do,
- [00:02:30.410]other than maybe hide certain advertisements
- [00:02:34.850]that they might have, or different pricing structures
- [00:02:37.840]that we communicate with them.
- [00:02:41.170]Now some items when you're in these catalogs,
- [00:02:44.100]are going to be priced differently, or look differently
- [00:02:48.130]from their consumer-based catalog.
- [00:02:50.710]And that's because we are getting pricing based
- [00:02:55.360]upon commercial use items.
- [00:02:58.250]And these items are discounted, generally speaking,
- [00:03:02.910]above the consumer price, or sales price
- [00:03:07.190]on the consumer products.
- [00:03:08.930]And there's also several other things that the suppliers
- [00:03:11.730]must commit to us when we onboard them
- [00:03:14.350]as a PunchOut supplier.
- [00:03:16.050]And all of those things are guarantees
- [00:03:18.740]to serve our customers very well.
- [00:03:21.950]And so when you are comparing like an Office Depot
- [00:03:24.910]on our PunchOut, versus the Office Depot
- [00:03:26.900]on their consumer site,
- [00:03:28.280]it's going to look a little differently.
- [00:03:30.150]But, in the long run the university is better off
- [00:03:34.160]by going through the PunchOut supplier.
- [00:03:38.220]So some of the pros about the PunchOut suppliers are that
- [00:03:42.930]it's always real time product price and availability.
- [00:03:46.440]And, we have this negotiated contract,
- [00:03:49.200]and then this customized site that they have built for us.
- [00:03:53.260]Some of the cons with that is that
- [00:03:55.900]you know when you're searching for products
- [00:03:58.540]that you're looking for on
- [00:04:00.830]the product search in eSHOP,
- [00:04:06.540]you might find that the products don't show up
- [00:04:08.930]with their prices.
- [00:04:10.040]Now I got some good news about that,
- [00:04:12.020]is that is in the works to be updated.
- [00:04:17.420]We are going to be rolling out several updates,
- [00:04:19.930]that is being provided by both the suppliers,
- [00:04:23.180]and our supplier for eSHOP, over the next several months.
- [00:04:27.710]Now this does depend upon our vendors being able
- [00:04:30.540]to accommodate this.
- [00:04:31.410]So what you'll see is you'll see their prices show up
- [00:04:33.500]just like you would any other items in the product searches.
- [00:04:39.400]So, another con though is that each of these vendors
- [00:04:42.570]sets you their own website, so we can't
- [00:04:46.390]say that every single of them's going to look
- [00:04:48.130]all the same, all the time,
- [00:04:48.963]and then be used all the same.
- [00:04:50.950]So they do provide supplier guides,
- [00:04:53.000]and we'll go through those in a little bit.
- [00:04:58.970]And not all suppliers are able to push their products
- [00:05:02.210]through the supplier search.
- [00:05:05.210]And so, you may be searching at that top level search
- [00:05:08.120]on the home page.
- [00:05:09.470]But not all the suppliers can push their products through.
- [00:05:12.390]For example, we have Henry Schein, is a PunchOut supplier,
- [00:05:17.100]but their products do not show up in our product search.
- [00:05:19.027]And they are working to update that.
- [00:05:23.880]So, speaking of that, that's called a level two PunchOut.
- [00:05:27.160]When the supplier is able to push their products through
- [00:05:29.620]and they'll show up in your search results in eSHOP.
- [00:05:33.530]So that just means that they have the capability
- [00:05:35.890]to be able to,
- [00:05:38.040]have the technology and the support
- [00:05:39.840]to be able to push through products through in real time.
- [00:05:48.050]Any questions?
- [00:05:49.739]No, we're good, Okay.
- [00:05:52.103]Then the next segment of catalogs
- [00:05:55.100]also have little tiles on eSHOP, mostly.
- [00:05:58.950]They are called hosted catalog suppliers.
- [00:06:01.850]Now we have 200, at least 200 working catalogs.
- [00:06:07.380]And we're also always implementing more.
- [00:06:13.280]These catalogs are maintained by the suppliers
- [00:06:17.040]through a supplier portal.
- [00:06:19.600]And we are not,
- [00:06:21.860]it's not accessible to us to change their pricing,
- [00:06:24.820]to change their product terminology,
- [00:06:27.330]that all belongs to them.
- [00:06:28.570]It's an online catalog like their printed catalog,
- [00:06:31.540]but loaded into a backend system.
- [00:06:34.370]We do have the ability just to approve increases,
- [00:06:38.760]or deny the price increases.
- [00:06:43.580]And hide some products of theirs.
- [00:06:47.250]So, the pros with that are that they,
- [00:06:51.660]the product availability and pricing
- [00:06:54.420]shows up on your search.
- [00:06:58.490]And contract and pricing with deliverables,
- [00:07:01.660]and service expectations are also included
- [00:07:04.300]in contracts that we have with them.
- [00:07:07.219]What the cause is that that supplier may not
- [00:07:09.700]be updating it on a regular basis,
- [00:07:11.800]and we have no control over that.
- [00:07:13.170]So you may be buying something that maybe even
- [00:07:15.980]they don't have available anymore.
- [00:07:18.650]Or that, the pricing is out of date.
- [00:07:23.080]And we often get calls to have that fixed,
- [00:07:25.710]and it's the supplier's responsibility.
- [00:07:28.270]So, of those 200 suppliers,
- [00:07:32.270]the ones that we have done business with
- [00:07:34.580]we have control to go back to them and say,
- [00:07:36.420]hey, you need to get this updated,
- [00:07:37.810]you need to fix this, or whatever.
- [00:07:39.930]But when you see the Sci-cat symbol,
- [00:07:42.370]that's this little guy right here in front of a supplier,
- [00:07:46.310]those are called Science Catalog Suppliers.
- [00:07:50.410]This is a large group of suppliers, or catalogs,
- [00:07:55.480]that Jagger, who hosts our eSHOP for us,
- [00:08:00.000]has a relationship with.
- [00:08:01.860]So they've gone out, in order to keep our research going,
- [00:08:04.630]and be able to onboard a lot of scientific catalogs quickly,
- [00:08:08.300]they have gone out and created this master database
- [00:08:11.470]of science catalogs and science vendors.
- [00:08:14.680]And they have loaded them in.
- [00:08:16.070]And we have agreed to include them
- [00:08:19.280]when eSHOP first got going,
- [00:08:21.550]so that we could quickly get up to speed
- [00:08:24.750]all of our research enabled vendors.
- [00:08:29.270]That might change over time as we add more and more
- [00:08:31.980]of our contracted vendors.
- [00:08:33.350]We may choose to look at all of those science catalogs
- [00:08:38.010]that we're currently using, and keep them on
- [00:08:39.850]with our own contracts, and maybe kind of eliminate
- [00:08:42.660]some of the others.
- [00:08:45.129]So there's a couple of other ways.
- [00:08:47.323]If you have a supplier that you're regularly purchasing from
- [00:08:51.080]and you're having a lot of line items,
- [00:08:52.930]or regular purchase transactions,
- [00:08:56.060]they have a product variety that's being used,
- [00:08:59.710]contact us so that we can evaluate the best way
- [00:09:03.860]to put them into eSHOP.
- [00:09:05.310]They may be great for a hosting catalog.
- [00:09:11.200]We may even be able to get better pricing for you,
- [00:09:13.500]because we can get them into a contract for pricing.
- [00:09:17.590]But the very least way that a supplier can get into eSHOP
- [00:09:22.860]is just through the portal suppliers
- [00:09:25.980]which is just this little comment at the bottom.
- [00:09:28.450]What that is is,
- [00:09:30.230]we're still doing quite a lot of purchase orders with them,
- [00:09:33.270]but they're applying an invoice on the back end
- [00:09:35.440]of the system to that purchase order.
- [00:09:37.700]So we're always trying to get to that hands free,
- [00:09:40.900]no-touch method of purchasing.
- [00:09:42.790]So you're submitting an order through eSHOP,
- [00:09:46.240]the order's being fulfilled,
- [00:09:47.460]the invoicing is being done computer to computer.
- [00:09:50.620]As long as all of the things fall into place and they match.
- [00:09:54.160]The quantity matches, the price matches,
- [00:09:56.920]then that invoice would be auto-flipped and paid
- [00:10:00.700]once you've done your goods receipts.
- [00:10:02.960]So, if you have some suppliers you're using,
- [00:10:06.020]and that is the least way that they can get in,
- [00:10:09.030]a portal supplier can also have a hosted catalog.
- [00:10:11.770]It can be as small as your 10 items that you're using.
- [00:10:14.869]But what happens then is they show up
- [00:10:17.390]in your product searches within eSHOP.
- [00:10:19.860]So, always let us know if you have vendors
- [00:10:22.920]that you're working with on a regular basis,
- [00:10:24.930]and you think that they would be right
- [00:10:27.760]for a catalog of some sort.
- [00:10:38.213]So when you're picking vendors to put in eSHOP,
- [00:10:42.010]or to work with you, even if they don't go into eSHOP,
- [00:10:45.510]we care about them.
- [00:10:46.667]And this is a recurring theme I know you're going to
- [00:10:48.560]hear from us a lot.
- [00:10:52.330]We're always looking to minimize the risk
- [00:10:55.350]to the university in several areas.
- [00:10:57.700]We're not always just talking about compliance,
- [00:11:00.170]or price, or anything like that.
- [00:11:02.120]Sometimes, we're looking at the bigger picture.
- [00:11:06.670]Like there's some federal laws that have to sustain.
- [00:11:09.730]We're constantly being asked for reports
- [00:11:12.490]on supplier diversity, or sustainability,
- [00:11:15.780]data security reports.
- [00:11:17.330]And we just don't know all of that detail
- [00:11:20.910]about all the vendors that we're at.
- [00:11:23.700]There are about 24,000 vendors in eSHOP already.
- [00:11:27.040]And I looked quickly, and last year we added,
- [00:11:30.740]not that's not eSHOP, but as a university as a whole,
- [00:11:34.540]added another 6,500 vendors to our vendor database.
- [00:11:41.130]So when you're working with vendors we also want
- [00:11:43.300]to make sure that you're thinking about these things.
- [00:11:47.210]Are they going to be able to keep our security in place?
- [00:11:50.950]Do they hire good employees that are going to be
- [00:11:56.090]secure to have on our premises?
- [00:11:59.470]And also, when you do have a new vendor,
- [00:12:01.820]that even if you're going to be doing non-catalog ordering
- [00:12:04.200]with them, ask to make sure that they take purchase orders
- [00:12:08.470]before you have them set up.
- [00:12:11.710]So, let's hop on over to eSHOP, real quick.
- [00:12:15.992]I'm just going to go quit that slide.
- [00:12:18.750]And let's talk about some of these catalog vendors
- [00:12:21.499]that we have.
- [00:12:26.035](soft overlapping chatter)
- [00:12:37.620]Sorry, oh, thank you.
- [00:12:40.730]Okay, so, I wanted to kind of run down,
- [00:12:45.840]I'm not going to go over a lot of medical supplies.
- [00:12:49.170]Sorry, Sydney, did you want to go over them real quick,
- [00:12:51.663]who supplies all that type of thing?
- [00:12:53.780]Sure, I can really fast.
- [00:12:57.062]So this is Sydney Zach, research lab medical supplier
- [00:13:01.920]for the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
- [00:13:03.510]I know some of my end users are on the phone,
- [00:13:05.520]so thank you for joining us.
- [00:13:08.770]Currently, our prime research and last supplies agreement
- [00:13:12.320]is with Fisher Scientific.
- [00:13:13.670]They are noted in the first tile
- [00:13:15.670]in the lab medical supply section.
- [00:13:18.840]As well as our primary gas vendor, Matsen.
- [00:13:24.500]They supply gases all across our campus,
- [00:13:26.660]and additionally on the East Campus.
- [00:13:30.830]Avcam is a PunchOut vendor.
- [00:13:32.720]They supply antibodies in other corresponding regions.
- [00:13:38.130]ATCC is a basically, a depository of different
- [00:13:43.720]types of cell lines, different organisms
- [00:13:48.720]different, I don't know if they do fibers and bacteria,
- [00:13:51.870]sort of organisms for research,
- [00:13:55.207]and they have a host catalog.
- [00:13:57.970]Bio-Rad is a PunchOut vendor,
- [00:14:00.470]they supply a lot of biochemistry
- [00:14:04.420]and molecular biology supplies,
- [00:14:05.990]a lot of protein DNA work
- [00:14:09.580]equipment and free agents.
- [00:14:11.340]Cell Signaling is also a PunchOut vendor.
- [00:14:14.240]They supply antibodies and other related free agents,
- [00:14:19.200]and I may have came in late.
- [00:14:21.860]I will say the little icon in the upper right hand corner
- [00:14:25.520]of these tiles-- These tiles right here?
- [00:14:27.271]Notate if they are a PunchOut vendor.
- [00:14:30.070]So you'll see Maths and our Prime Gases vendor
- [00:14:33.290]is not currently a punch shop but they have a host account
- [00:14:36.310]based on the contract that we have in place with them.
- [00:14:38.850]So it's geared toward our spend across university wide
- [00:14:44.170]orders that we do for them.
- [00:14:46.160]Our newest edition, and this is a great triumph for Mary
- [00:14:50.760]and myself, we have finally split the Henry Shine tile
- [00:14:56.060]for our medical users and our dental users.
- [00:14:59.680]So prior to, I think, just last week
- [00:15:02.240]or earlier this week. Yep.
- [00:15:04.640]Both the medical and dental catalogs
- [00:15:07.070]were combined into the one Henry Shine catalog,
- [00:15:11.797]er, PunchOut.
- [00:15:13.128]Now, for our cause of dentistry users,
- [00:15:17.170]they're able to punch directly into the dental catalog.
- [00:15:20.420]And for our researchers, our athletics department,
- [00:15:25.140]anything medical related, they can punch directly into
- [00:15:27.950]the medical catalog without having to worry about
- [00:15:30.720]which catalog am I in and am I going to get
- [00:15:32.980]the correct prices?
- [00:15:34.897]So, significant ease of use for end users to make sure
- [00:15:39.130]that they're getting the right products
- [00:15:40.300]for the right pricing.
- [00:15:43.380]IDT I also a PunchOut vendor, they supply all those
- [00:15:49.520]manufactured jeans, anything related to that type
- [00:15:53.640]of research component.
- [00:15:57.850]Let's see, I don't want to take up too much time with that
- [00:16:00.480]but you'll see a lot of our vendors, they're on PunchOut,
- [00:16:02.920]so Life Tech does a lot of biochemistry,
- [00:16:05.130]molecular work as well.
- [00:16:06.560]We have Restriction NSAIDS from New England Bio Labs,
- [00:16:11.650]Sigma-Aldrich for chemicals, BWR is a level two
- [00:16:18.250]PunchOut as well.
- [00:16:20.330]We have GPO pricing with them to, kind of,
- [00:16:25.130]compliment in a way, fill the gap, if you will say
- [00:16:28.350]for research and lab supplies equipment and Fisher.
- [00:16:32.067]And other PunchOut vendors in that section are also
- [00:16:36.410]kind of filled specifically from the three of us.
- [00:16:39.656]So, Masbach Equipment.
- [00:16:42.940]I don't know, high level equipment our agent specified
- [00:16:45.290]versus research, so I won't take up too much time.
- [00:16:48.460](women laugh)
- [00:16:49.466]If you have questions about any of the vendors
- [00:16:51.090]in that section, please let me know.
- [00:16:53.833]Okay, so the next section I think everybody knows,
- [00:16:59.000]Office Depot, is ArtFX and Abante both do screen printing,
- [00:17:04.120]embroidery, commercial product tech stuff.
- [00:17:08.450]Complete Book, I encourage you all, if you're buying books
- [00:17:12.400]on P-cards or doing a lot of employer reimbursement
- [00:17:15.070]for books, to check out the Book.
- [00:17:18.350]It continues to get better and better,
- [00:17:20.470]so just check out the book offerings from Compete Book.
- [00:17:24.150]Again, that creates a hands-free process whereby
- [00:17:28.170]you're placing the order and they're getting in invoiced
- [00:17:31.200]and it's all being done automatically.
- [00:17:35.070]So, for Dell, this next section in technology
- [00:17:37.750]and audio visual.
- [00:17:40.060]Currently, Dell is the choice for Dell and I believe
- [00:17:43.810]they have some standards in there when you click into there,
- [00:17:46.120]they'll suggest some things that I.T. has suggested to use.
- [00:17:51.710]Connection, strangely enough, is our HP contract, currently.
- [00:17:58.200]B and H Photo, many times I see people buying
- [00:18:04.290]on P-card or the Amazon or elsewhere
- [00:18:08.770]for all things technology, large spa, computer peripherals,
- [00:18:13.420]audio visuals, from headsets to keyboards,
- [00:18:18.570]to huge monitor, TV, all size monitors.
- [00:18:23.340]B and H Photo, every time that I have checked somebody
- [00:18:26.830]who wanted to buy something from Amazon on a P-card,
- [00:18:29.960]they have beat the price.
- [00:18:31.630]So I really encourage you to go and check B and H Photo
- [00:18:35.170]when you're looking for technology
- [00:18:37.730]before going anywhere else.
- [00:18:39.729]They're very good to work with.
- [00:18:41.500]We really do like that relationship we have with them.
- [00:18:46.310]CBW, I think, is currently the Levono, Leveno,
- [00:18:51.134]is that how you say that? (clears throat)
- [00:18:53.160]Contracted vendors, so if you're going to buy a computer,
- [00:18:55.277]buy it from them.
- [00:18:56.400]It does change and I think that we are in kind of
- [00:18:58.780]the middle of negotiation to change some of
- [00:19:00.820]those associations around.
- [00:19:03.030]And then, of course, Newegg is kind of
- [00:19:07.830]all kinds of things, they do software, they do hardware,
- [00:19:10.850]they do computer equipment if you're building a computer.
- [00:19:17.650]So, in this next section, I really did kind of want to
- [00:19:20.380]talk about this facility's names and repair section
- [00:19:23.190]because I think most people will skip over it
- [00:19:25.000]because of the title of the section.
- [00:19:27.400]But CED, I mean that is electrical solutions and products.
- [00:19:34.640]They're pretty facilities oriented.
- [00:19:38.080]But Crescent Electric is a PunchOut that does lamps
- [00:19:43.890]and lighting fixtures and they also do hardware
- [00:19:47.040]and supplies, so you can find a lot of different things
- [00:19:49.630]from Crescent Electric.
- [00:19:52.250]Ferguson is a plumbing contractor, so you probably wouldn't,
- [00:19:55.750]they also do some waterworks and fire protection there.
- [00:19:59.780]So you might find something you need there.
- [00:20:02.640]I know, for me, if I'm trying to even just build out
- [00:20:06.680]a supply closet or something like that
- [00:20:08.317]and you're looking for equipment and you kind of
- [00:20:10.390]don't know where to look for.
- [00:20:12.410]So all of these vendors in here are good resources for you.
- [00:20:16.860]This Home Depot Pro used to be called Supply Works.
- [00:20:19.670]They are merging with Home Depot a little at a time.
- [00:20:23.289]They sell janitorial cleaning supplies, cleaning solutions,
- [00:20:28.540]paper products, all that cool stuff.
- [00:20:31.020]So if you're looking for cleaning supplies, whatever,
- [00:20:34.960]mops, brooms, pretty much anything you could think of
- [00:20:40.620]that's janitorial or I'm sure they have a wide variety
- [00:20:43.630]of other stuff also.
- [00:20:48.590]Voss Lighting, they do specialty lighting.
- [00:20:51.270]So if you have an odd replacement, a bulb or something
- [00:20:55.030]like that that you're looking for, you might look there.
- [00:20:56.870]And another note about all these vendors is
- [00:20:59.920]they need to provide to us a contact person that our people
- [00:21:04.600]can use to find special stuff.
- [00:21:07.480]So if you have something that you're looking for
- [00:21:09.220]in particular, call them, that's what they're there for.
- [00:21:14.060]Anixter, we just onboarded Anixter recently.
- [00:21:17.760]They have communications and security products,
- [00:21:20.540]they also do a lot of electrical wire and cable
- [00:21:23.060]and that kind of thing.
- [00:21:24.880]Fastenal, Grainger, and MSD.
- [00:21:27.287]Fastenal and Grainger here, MSD over here,
- [00:21:30.650]they all kind of are very similar in that they have
- [00:21:33.750]pretty much everything you can dream of
- [00:21:35.270]that you'd like to buy that's not, well, I'm sure
- [00:21:38.570]that you probably would have groceries. (chuckles)
- [00:21:40.760]But they're kind of like, they just kind of sell
- [00:21:43.810]pretty much everything, so you can always look
- [00:21:45.840]in those three places for things.
- [00:21:49.680]Graybar, again, that is pretty facilities related specific.
- [00:21:54.810]They do data comm and cabling and equipment.
- [00:21:58.890]And then we have the regular old Home Depot
- [00:22:00.800]that we're all used to.
- [00:22:02.380]They deliver on campus.
- [00:22:06.690]And then, McMaster-Carr also, that's a lot of hardware,
- [00:22:12.880]tools, raw materials, equipment, et cetera.
- [00:22:18.370]And then, Uline, if anyone's not familiar with Uline,
- [00:22:21.930]Uline is a huge supplier of packaging, storing,
- [00:22:26.600]materials for moving things.
- [00:22:29.230]If you need a little tiny bin that's this big
- [00:22:32.070]and a little tiny bin that's huge, or everything in between,
- [00:22:36.160]you're going to find that and tape and boxes,
- [00:22:39.530]and everything else that you want.
- [00:22:42.720]And then we have our Hon and Steelcase.
- [00:22:46.640]So any time you're buying furniture, if you're buying
- [00:22:48.920]furniture for a hall op that you know you're going to
- [00:22:50.740]want to work with us a little bit on that,
- [00:22:54.407]and what we have do then, once the furniture order
- [00:22:56.650]has been complied, All Makes is borrowing
- [00:23:01.020]the Hon PunchOut system.
- [00:23:04.190]And so, we're not just buying Hon products,
- [00:23:06.960]All Makes is using it to process orders.
- [00:23:09.740]So any time you have an All Makes order,
- [00:23:12.380]have that person you're working with at All Makes,
- [00:23:16.000]tell them, okay, I approved the quote,
- [00:23:18.240]load it into your PunchOut and they will do
- [00:23:20.340]all the data entry for you and all you have to do
- [00:23:22.090]is add it to your cart.
- [00:23:23.840]And the same with Shepherd's.
- [00:23:26.060]And their little PunchOut tile they're borrowing
- [00:23:28.470]is Steelcase.
- [00:23:29.670]So don't let the Hon and Steelcase scare you away.
- [00:23:33.510]That really is just All Makes and Shepherd's
- [00:23:35.610]and they're just using the technology provided
- [00:23:37.670]by a couple of their manufacturers.
- [00:23:42.730]Anything anyone is really curious about
- [00:23:46.060]that we haven't covered yet?
- [00:23:48.520]Nope, we're good. Okay.
- [00:23:51.260]So, I am going to skip the next slide because
- [00:23:53.820]each one of these vendors here is expected to provided to us
- [00:23:58.450]because all their websites act differently.
- [00:24:01.420]Each one is expected to provide instructions
- [00:24:05.550]on how to use their website.
- [00:24:08.991]And so, when you call us and ask, how do I make a return
- [00:24:12.400]to Office Depot, or how do I get a quote submitted?
- [00:24:17.600]We're going to guide you to the supplier ordering guides,
- [00:24:20.930]right over here, and we'll just go ahead
- [00:24:23.460]and take a peek at one.
- [00:24:27.360]Let's say Office Depot, for example, if I don't know
- [00:24:31.100]how to make a return to Office Depot,
- [00:24:34.722]I'm going to get their supplier guide open
- [00:24:38.240]and I'm going to read it to you.
- [00:24:40.750]So if you call here, this is what we're doing.
- [00:24:42.670]We're just going to call and say, this is how you
- [00:24:44.830]make a return and we're going to read you the instructions.
- [00:24:48.410]So, everyone of those tiled suppliers, they also might
- [00:24:52.810]be called stickers, is required to give us
- [00:24:57.740]an instruction guide on how to use their site.
- [00:25:01.890]Okay?
- [00:25:04.100]So, all of these little tiled guys.
- [00:25:06.480]Now these ones up here, in this internal catalog,
- [00:25:09.170]those are also hosted catalogs, so they're going to
- [00:25:11.770]come up in your search results.
- [00:25:15.870]I have a question. Okay.
- [00:25:18.040]How often are guides updated?
- [00:25:20.780]That's a really great question.
- [00:25:22.500]I have noticed recently that,
- [00:25:26.480]of course, when we onboard the supplier, we get the guide
- [00:25:28.810]from them and then we often don't look at it again.
- [00:25:31.440]So I noticed that a couple of them are very outdated.
- [00:25:34.520]Normally, what gets updated though
- [00:25:36.490]is the contact information on them.
- [00:25:41.660]And because usually the supplier's rep that is assigned
- [00:25:47.330]to our account will be on there.
- [00:25:48.970]Now, I know this is probably a question about Office Depot,
- [00:25:52.235]they go through people pretty quickly.
- [00:25:56.110]So, Tasha, Tasha's great, he is always very responsive.
- [00:26:00.630]I just got a call yesterday that the new replacement
- [00:26:03.710]for the other person, I think it was Angela,
- [00:26:06.470]has been hired and is calling around making introductions,
- [00:26:09.310]so we'll get that updated for Office Depot.
- [00:26:12.140]But in addition to that, we have a lot of changes,
- [00:26:15.830]like I said, coming out in e-SHOP.
- [00:26:19.440]It's going to be very exciting but in doing so,
- [00:26:23.220]we are going to have all of the supplier guides updated
- [00:26:27.800]as well as the user guides.
- [00:26:29.640]So we're going to do that in the next,
- [00:26:31.840]I think we want to be done with that by mid-January.
- [00:26:40.960]Let's go back here.
- [00:26:46.870]All right. (clears throat)
- [00:26:49.470]So, I'm going to get into this searching for suppliers now.
- [00:26:55.920]Now the best way to search for a supplier you're looking for
- [00:26:59.230]now these will not be your catalog suppliers,
- [00:27:02.470]either hosted or PunchOut.
- [00:27:07.130]And there are, like I said, 24,000 different suppliers
- [00:27:10.190]already in e-SHOP.
- [00:27:13.110]So the best way that I like to tell people to search
- [00:27:16.460]for supplies is through any of the forms but we'll use
- [00:27:20.620]the non catalog order form first.
- [00:27:24.240]And so, when you're searching in this main box,
- [00:27:26.750]you can use the supplier number, if you have it, from SAP.
- [00:27:30.900]Now, I will caution you in that when we're deciding
- [00:27:34.760]which supplier from SAP to add to e-SHOP, we're doing that
- [00:27:39.570]based upon the remit to address and the ACH setup
- [00:27:43.600]and all that stuff, and I say that because
- [00:27:45.940]you'd be surprised but, for example, one supplier
- [00:27:49.250]that I was working on was in SAP 158 times
- [00:27:53.990]with different records. (chuckles)
- [00:27:55.370]So, you may be used to using a particular vendor
- [00:27:58.950]but it might be outdated and so there's a newer one
- [00:28:01.960]we might choose, so use the number and, most often,
- [00:28:04.890]it's going to be right but, if not, that's why.
- [00:28:08.870]So, when you search in here, it's going to return
- [00:28:11.820]all active supplier records and when you search here,
- [00:28:16.993]it's going to do the same but it's going to add
- [00:28:19.370]the street address to that supplier so you can know
- [00:28:21.720]for sure that that's the one that you want.
- [00:28:24.800]So let's just do that.
- [00:28:28.020]So if I open a non catalog order form.
- [00:28:32.520]And, let's see.
- [00:28:36.320]And I'm going to use ideal.
- [00:28:40.020]This isn't...
- [00:28:45.184]I-D-E-A-L.
- [00:28:47.180]So you can see that everything that starts with Ideal
- [00:28:49.580]is going to start coming up.
- [00:28:50.780]Well, you notice that there is more than one
- [00:28:53.510]Ideal Pure Water.
- [00:28:54.500]Now, this one, we try to name them when there's more
- [00:28:56.440]than one, we try to name them so that they're smart names.
- [00:28:59.640]But if I wanted to really know for sure,
- [00:29:02.330]I can, instead, click supplier search.
- [00:29:09.839]And it's waiting, waiting, waiting.
- [00:29:29.360]Let's do it again and see it comes up.
- [00:29:33.270]Okay!
- [00:29:34.410]So, I'm going to do the same, Ideal.
- [00:29:39.150]And I'm going to click search.
- [00:29:43.170]And then the results are going to give me that full address
- [00:29:45.480]of the vendor that I'm looking for.
- [00:29:47.160]So in this way, you can really see that you're choosing
- [00:29:50.850]the right Ideal Water.
- [00:29:52.460]So let's say I do want the one from Lincoln.
- [00:29:55.120]Now, I often get people that will click the name
- [00:29:57.480]of the vendor right here and it does work.
- [00:30:02.560]But, often, people get lost and get confused about
- [00:30:06.520]what form they're using or whatever when they do that.
- [00:30:08.650]So, just use the select button.
- [00:30:10.920]And they book work to a degree but I do have people get lost
- [00:30:14.500]when they click them.
- [00:30:16.350]Because what it does, I'll just show you.
- [00:30:18.750]This will go to the vendor's record.
- [00:30:22.240]Okay, and then you have to take this non catalog order form.
- [00:30:26.920]If you just click the select, it goes right into the form
- [00:30:30.780]that you are. (mic shuffles)
- [00:30:35.250]It should populate that, it would populate that, I promise.
- [00:30:38.902](women chuckle)
- [00:30:40.280]I can verify, it does. (women laugh)
- [00:30:44.120]So, again, if you want the supplier's number though,
- [00:30:46.990]you really can just type it right in.
- [00:30:49.210]Wow.
- [00:30:52.500]You can really just type it right into the form
- [00:30:54.800]and it should come up just the same way.
- [00:30:59.080]Okay, so the next method is,
- [00:31:07.270]often people might try to search in the upper right
- [00:31:10.260]hand corner and, yes, it's a very friendly search
- [00:31:13.003]when you're working on purchase orders and requisitions,
- [00:31:16.548]and invoices and stuff, but when you're working to look
- [00:31:19.400]for a vendor, it's returning all kind of stuff.
- [00:31:25.820]It's returning every document that's associated
- [00:31:28.340]with that vendor, it's returning vendors with similar names
- [00:31:31.003]that may be or maybe not enabled in our system
- [00:31:34.460]because the e-SHOP is hosted by an outside company
- [00:31:38.600]and they have this huge catalog of vendors
- [00:31:43.210]that is available for us to turn on and off.
- [00:31:46.410]But there's a lot involved in that, so it's not
- [00:31:50.210]a lightly thought out thing but it's going to not return you
- [00:31:54.640]very good results.
- [00:31:56.360]So I would recommend you not do that
- [00:31:58.020]and I'm going to show you.
- [00:32:02.930]So, another way that you can search suppliers
- [00:32:06.660]is from what we call the shop at the top or this
- [00:32:10.133]product search at the very top.
- [00:32:11.690]Underneath this product search, you'll see the word
- [00:32:13.750]suppliers and the word categories.
- [00:32:16.860]If you were to click on categories and I know
- [00:32:19.130]many people never do this,
- [00:32:21.490]it returns this list of product categories
- [00:32:26.170]that suppliers are associated with.
- [00:32:28.330]Now this is the supplier's responsibility
- [00:32:30.600]to associate themselves with categories,
- [00:32:32.870]so there's not a whole lot of control.
- [00:32:35.610]We can do that also but when we're working
- [00:32:37.600]on 24,000 vendors at a time, it becomes something
- [00:32:42.870]that we just can't manage.
- [00:32:44.819]So it is the suppliers responsibility to associate
- [00:32:46.880]their commodities with their categories.
- [00:32:51.511]And the other one will return a list of suppliers
- [00:32:54.397]and we will go through both of these.
- [00:32:57.240]So it'll have all these little icons.
- [00:33:00.580]This one here represents it's an internal catalog.
- [00:33:04.150]A preferred supplier is someone that we have worked with
- [00:33:07.040]and we have awarded them a contract
- [00:33:08.940]or in negotiation process or remitting process.
- [00:33:12.830]An enabled vendor just means that that's a vendor
- [00:33:15.650]that we have touched and turned on working through
- [00:33:18.670]a Jagger implementation or an e-SHOP implementation.
- [00:33:23.120]Higher ad pricing, we have pricing agreements,
- [00:33:26.300]we have several different places we can go
- [00:33:28.610]for educational pressing discounts
- [00:33:31.711]or government institution discounts and that kind of thing.
- [00:33:34.830]So that will just represent that that particular vendor's
- [00:33:38.600]pricing is higher ad pricing.
- [00:33:41.610]For the supplier as I explained earlier is just somebody
- [00:33:43.860]who has a backend, so it's assumed that they can do
- [00:33:46.440]their catalog and invoicing through.
- [00:33:48.920]We already talked about the science catalog suppliers.
- [00:33:52.440]And then, when you're searching suppliers, you really want
- [00:33:54.520]to be aware that only the ones with the active
- [00:33:57.150]green check mark are in our system.
- [00:33:59.740]So when you're searching in certain places for suppliers
- [00:34:02.640]and you see lots of suppliers, and I've gotten this call
- [00:34:04.700]several times, or they've even tried to use the supplier
- [00:34:07.870]that is inactive, that's not one of our suppliers.
- [00:34:11.700]We only have the ones that are active.
- [00:34:14.410]And then, our host catalog is represented with
- [00:34:17.150]the little book and the PunchOut supplier
- [00:34:20.770]and the non catalog which, of course, is just a vendor
- [00:34:23.610]that has been set up by an individual.
- [00:34:31.450]All right.
- [00:34:34.900]So, that's categories, let's just look at that
- [00:34:38.590]real quick first.
- [00:34:41.930]So if I was trying find products based upon categories...
- [00:34:52.005](woman groans)
- [00:34:57.240]Tick-tock, tick-tock.
- [00:34:59.108](Emily laughs)
- [00:35:00.361]There we go.
- [00:35:01.194]So say I was looking for a particular catalog supplies,
- [00:35:04.290]these are product category searches but it's still a way
- [00:35:08.270]that you can get to some of our supplier products
- [00:35:12.700]that you're specifically looking for.
- [00:35:14.310]It's more related to the product
- [00:35:17.210]but the associated suppliers would be linked into that.
- [00:35:23.147]And this is just something a lot of people don't know about,
- [00:35:25.300]so I wanted to make sure and bring that to your attention.
- [00:35:28.810]It's a very long way to do a product search. (chuckles)
- [00:35:32.640]All right, with this supplier search, we're go there next.
- [00:35:37.590]This is the way may people I think, use the supplier search,
- [00:35:40.620]it's going to bring up all of our suppliers
- [00:35:43.380]that are registered and active for us in e-SHOP.
- [00:35:49.800]It doesn't bring up the non catalog suppliers.
- [00:35:54.500]Why don't we get, okay, no, it does not bring up
- [00:35:56.743]the non catalog suppliers.
- [00:35:58.870]You can select here to the PunchOut mobile
- [00:36:04.270]or then search the non catalog through here.
- [00:36:07.530]But you would have to select it.
- [00:36:09.230]So here's where those icons come into play.
- [00:36:11.520]So you can see that this anywhere is an internal catalog,
- [00:36:16.990]it's also a hosted catalog, and it's a preferred supplier.
- [00:36:21.630]Here, you can see that these are science catalogs.
- [00:36:25.760]So these sci-cat, those are not in our control
- [00:36:29.050]but they are provided for use of equipment, lab supplies.
- [00:36:36.500]Honestly, some of them are great companies to work with,
- [00:36:39.840]some of them are very small and may not have updated
- [00:36:43.220]for a while.
- [00:36:45.780]You can always just type in a supplier name here
- [00:36:48.190]and search, let's just go with scientific.
- [00:36:56.810]And I can see that they have a portal,
- [00:36:59.290]they have higher ad pricing, they're a science catalog.
- [00:37:03.890]They are a hosted catalog.
- [00:37:07.660]If you click on that supplier's name anywhere,
- [00:37:10.050]you can do that from your acquisitions,
- [00:37:11.970]you can do it from your orders,
- [00:37:16.040]and see a little bit more about the suppliers,
- [00:37:20.526]so their name and their address and all that stuff
- [00:37:22.700]will be there.
- [00:37:28.935]So.
- [00:37:32.800]The last thing that I kinda wanted to bring up,
- [00:37:35.880]well, let's see if this comes up first.
- [00:37:44.530]I love this, this always seems to happen
- [00:37:46.720]right in the middle of training.
- [00:37:48.860]It doesn't matter where I'm at, what computer I'm at,
- [00:37:51.030]it's like, you're clicking on too many things,
- [00:37:52.840]needs a good pause. Yeah.
- [00:37:55.511](Sydney chuckles)
- [00:38:01.900]All right.
- [00:38:12.840]All right, well, we'll give up on that.
- [00:38:14.030]So we'll look at a supplier in another way.
- [00:38:16.750]So that supplier search...
- [00:38:22.480]Is useful is you're looking at for a lot of suppliers
- [00:38:26.530]or you just can't find the supplier you need.
- [00:38:29.260]E-SHOP is going to search from whatever you type in.
- [00:38:31.970]So even if you type just three characters,
- [00:38:33.920]it's going to find everything with that name.
- [00:38:38.230]Okay, and the last thing that is going to be searchable
- [00:38:44.130]is when you're searching from the product selection search,
- [00:38:49.020]so let's say that I am searching a ladder.
- [00:38:58.310]And you'll see how fast this one goes.
- [00:39:06.487]Oh, okay.
- [00:39:09.130]So, any time you have search result up here,
- [00:39:13.000]whether it's product driven or whether you're looking at
- [00:39:15.640]all your orders or you're searching documents
- [00:39:17.500]or something like that, always, you will have this filter
- [00:39:21.860]system over here which is very, very good.
- [00:39:26.100]So if I know the vendor that I want to use
- [00:39:28.930]for buying my ladder, I can go right over here
- [00:39:32.550]and just pick that supplier.
- [00:39:34.280]So say I wanted to look at Grainger.
- [00:39:43.050]I can see all the ladders that Grainger offers
- [00:39:45.510]and up here, I can see that there's 20 pages
- [00:39:50.160]and so they have over 4000 results here for Graingers.
- [00:39:59.750]If I wanted to look at some other vendors or go back,
- [00:40:02.790]I would just take this filter off by clicking show all.
- [00:40:12.700]If I want to look at more, click on more than one supplier
- [00:40:16.030]at a time, I can add a filter here and I can multi-select
- [00:40:20.890]my suppliers that I want to see.
- [00:40:27.773]Let's see.
- [00:40:32.840]And so, now I can see all of them.
- [00:40:37.920]Of course, if I wanted to the filter done by the type
- [00:40:40.350]of product or the product category,
- [00:40:48.440]let's say I just wanted to see work benches.
- [00:40:52.040]So this left hand filter is always very helpful
- [00:40:56.770]if you're either searching in anywhere where
- [00:40:59.960]you're searching and you have a results page
- [00:41:02.500]that has more of any you want to look at,
- [00:41:04.480]use this filter over here because it's super easy
- [00:41:07.490]to undo the filter at any time
- [00:41:10.900]and go back to selecting all.
- [00:41:22.669]Okay, are there any questions now, 'cause kind of completes
- [00:41:27.610]my speil about finding suppliers.
- [00:41:33.230]We don't currently have any questions right now.
- [00:41:36.930]Anything else you want to say about
- [00:41:38.580]your scientific catalogs?
- [00:41:42.520]Can you go to the home page for just a second?
- [00:41:45.770]I just want to reiterate for end users that any time
- [00:41:52.170]that you see a vendor that has a tile or sticker
- [00:41:56.090]or whatever you'd like to call it
- [00:41:58.320]and you have a specific product in mind or a type of product
- [00:42:03.700]in mind, make sure you're hitting up the contracted
- [00:42:07.030]suppliers first, those are going to be your best options
- [00:42:10.090]for contractor pricing, for customer service,
- [00:42:13.850]we're going to be able to best help with your needs
- [00:42:17.340]in the department just because we have that
- [00:42:19.550]established relationship with those suppliers.
- [00:42:23.410]When you're searching for those products,
- [00:42:24.950]make sure you're hitting these suppliers first
- [00:42:27.600]and if you aren't able to find what you need
- [00:42:29.730]from these suppliers that we have relationships with,
- [00:42:33.430]contracts with, let us know so we can help
- [00:42:37.754]best meet your needs for what you're looking for.
- [00:42:41.870]We can often find it from a supplier
- [00:42:46.730]still with our discounting pricing or a contracted
- [00:42:50.540]in another way.
- [00:42:51.560]Yeah, and I have quite a few suppliers that
- [00:42:54.143]use their separate stat for them working on onboarding
- [00:42:57.310]in some sort of fashion whether it's a PunchOut,
- [00:43:00.080]whether it's a hosted, just to meet specific needs
- [00:43:04.360]for my researchers.
- [00:43:05.560]And that can be helpful across any category, I.T.,
- [00:43:08.900]facilities, office needs, anything like that.
- [00:43:12.854]Yeah, so if you're regularly buying,
- [00:43:15.370]we really do want to help you maximize your budget
- [00:43:18.510]by getting them under contract and enabling them
- [00:43:21.980]into this hands-free process.
- [00:43:24.030]I clicked on the Fisher scientific one because
- [00:43:27.420]man of these PunchOut catalogs will have
- [00:43:30.380]their representatives names right on their landing page
- [00:43:34.130]and so you can see this is custom built
- [00:43:35.930]for the University of Nebraska, it has our logo on it,
- [00:43:39.020]it has our reps on it.
- [00:43:40.750]Fisher's not the only one that does that though.
- [00:43:43.310]But always, you can use those supplier guides
- [00:43:45.360]to get connected with those reps too.
- [00:43:49.110]We do have a question. Okay.
- [00:43:51.120]Is anything happening with Amazon as a vendor?
- [00:43:58.820]I was just updated on that today
- [00:44:02.080]that they're having ongoing discussions about
- [00:44:05.480]enabling them in a slightly different way.
- [00:44:10.250]And I'm not 100% sure, I wouldn't speak to that in total
- [00:44:14.900]because I'm not sure all the parameters of that
- [00:44:16.980]but it has been discussed and I think it had gone
- [00:44:19.570]a little way down the road of enabling it
- [00:44:21.550]in a slightly different manner than our normal vendors.
- [00:44:27.600]In the works. In the works.
- [00:44:29.760]Okay.
- [00:44:34.610]Any other questions from our listeners out there?
- [00:44:40.720]I'll give everybody a second.
- [00:44:43.870]I will say that when we do onboard a vendor
- [00:44:45.940]whether they become a hosted catalog or a PunchOut catalog
- [00:44:49.720]or it just doesn't work out and we end up keeping them
- [00:44:53.070]as a non catalog vendor, the hosted and PunchOut catalog,
- [00:44:59.010]in a moment, depending upon capability in the technical side
- [00:45:03.320]from the vendor, can take a while.
- [00:45:07.380]So it's not going to happen in a week or two weeks even.
- [00:45:11.410]Varying levels of functionalities and capabilities.
- [00:45:15.640]I don't think we have any other questions.
- [00:45:17.440]All right, well thanks again, all,
- [00:45:19.460]for giving us your time, it's a great investment
- [00:45:22.870]of your time to hang out with us on our PED talks.
- [00:45:25.800]And next month, in December, we're taking a break,
- [00:45:29.070]so we'll see you back in January.
