[00:00:05.770]I'm pleased to welcome so many of you to Lincoln
[00:00:08.610]for the Women Advance IT Conference.
[00:00:11.490]Special thanks to those who are visiting Nebraska
[00:00:13.940]for the first time.
[00:00:15.180]It is a particularly distinct honor to host all of you
[00:00:18.290]for what I believe is one of the most critical conversations
[00:00:21.288]that any organization, large or small, can have today.
[00:00:25.920]And that is the conversation about what we are doing
[00:00:28.960]to create a culture where every person matters.
[00:00:33.570]At the University of Nebraska we have been intentional
[00:00:36.590]about making diversity and inclusion a priority
[00:00:39.770]for a number of years.
[00:00:41.431]Our goal is to be a place where all voices are heard.
[00:00:45.300]Where each individual can contribute their talents
[00:00:48.370]and where opportunities for success
[00:00:50.440]are equitable and widely shared.
[00:00:53.370]I know many of you would say the same
[00:00:55.520]and we can be proud of the progress we have all made
[00:00:58.900]yet we know our work in this space is never done.
[00:01:02.591]In fields like IT where women have been under represented
[00:01:06.370]and particularly in leadership roles,
[00:01:08.720]a continued focus on inclusive excellence
[00:01:11.210]is absolutely necessary if we are to continue
[00:01:14.310]to be competitive and innovative.
[00:01:17.320]That's why I'm so pleased that you're gathered here
[00:01:19.530]for this important dialog.
[00:01:21.331]While I apologize that I am traveling
[00:01:23.540]and can't be with you in person,
[00:01:25.370]I want to commend you for your commitment
[00:01:27.390]to creating a stronger, more inclusive,
[00:01:30.010]more vibrant path forward for all of us.
