[00:00:12.000]First in here we wanna make sure this is good and flat

[00:00:15.730]Urban forestry is the study of and introduction
[00:00:18.570]of trees into natural areas of local communities.
[00:00:22.330]Today we're here to plant trees in a neighborhood
[00:00:24.830]that has experienced tree loss due to emerald ash borer.
[00:00:27.870]We're getting the community together out here
[00:00:29.830]to engage, learn a little bit about trees
[00:00:32.450]and get their hands dirty.

[00:00:36.450]Right now we're teaching the group a little bit
[00:00:37.830]about tree planting, best practices,
[00:00:40.610]making sure that the tree has a high success rate

[00:00:57.930]see people learn, see their eyes light up

[00:01:08.620]the scientific background needed for my career
[00:01:10.870]but also how to utilize the tools, resources

[00:01:16.980]like this is one who is dedicated to improving
[00:01:20.100]the natural environment, very interested
[00:01:21.890]in it and an advocate for the natural world.

[00:01:27.920]They can even be a professional tree climber.

[00:01:35.310]This career is so rewarding because of the connections
[00:01:38.450]that you make, the inspiration that you see in people,

[00:01:46.350]for my house and my neighbor's gonna get a tree
[00:01:48.300]so eventually we'll have a little bit of canopy
[00:01:50.610]on our end of the street, too.
