- [00:00:08.920]My name is Rachel Ibach.
- [00:00:10.070]I'm the program manager for Cultivate ACCESS,
- [00:00:12.160]and I'm gonna talk with you guys a little bit
- [00:00:14.120]about what you need to know as you start the program.
- [00:00:17.080]So, in the first six weeks,
- [00:00:18.200]we will be in the onboarding phase.
- [00:00:19.770]During that time, mentors will be trained in tactics
- [00:00:22.670]that they need to know to work with high school students.
- [00:00:25.970]Everyone will take the StrengthsFinder,
- [00:00:28.250]and then you'll start to learn a little bit more
- [00:00:30.080]about the activities that you're going to need to do
- [00:00:32.910]and how to communicate professionally with each other.
- [00:00:35.170]So, what does a typical week or month look like
- [00:00:37.300]after the onboarding phase?
- [00:00:39.220]Each month, mentors, scholars, and ambassadors
- [00:00:42.570]will receive an email from the leadership team.
- [00:00:44.520]This will include all the resources and information
- [00:00:47.200]that you need to know to complete your requirements
- [00:00:50.110]for that time.
- [00:00:51.000]This could include links to videos, websites, articles,
- [00:00:54.690]or any other resources that are provided to you
- [00:00:57.260]at this time.
- [00:00:58.330]Additionally, mentors will connect with scholars virtually
- [00:01:01.480]during this month to discuss the topic
- [00:01:04.320]and answer any questions that scholars might have
- [00:01:06.870]about career pathways or other STEM-related topics.
- [00:01:11.100]As well as connecting virtually,
- [00:01:13.890]the ambassador team will host
- [00:01:16.840]real-time slack sessions
- [00:01:18.730]where you can login and participate
- [00:01:20.550]as the discussion is going on.
- [00:01:22.650]But if you're not able to meet up at that time,
- [00:01:25.130]you can always catch up on that discussion later
- [00:01:28.150]when you are free and able to do so.
- [00:01:30.900]How do you make the most of your time in Cultivate ACCESS?
- [00:01:34.220]Time-commitment is necessary.
- [00:01:35.900]We anticipate that at minimum
- [00:01:37.560]you need to spend five hours a month talking with scholars,
- [00:01:40.950]talking with your mentor,
- [00:01:42.230]connecting with other people in the program,
- [00:01:44.910]and reviewing the resources that are provided to you.
- [00:01:47.693]It's the more that you put into this program,
- [00:01:50.350]the more you're going to get out of it.
- [00:01:52.130]Additionally, don't be scared to ask questions,
- [00:01:54.140]if you're confused about anything,
- [00:01:55.720]reach out to the leadership team, ambassadors, mentors,
- [00:01:59.270]or other scholars in the program.
- [00:02:01.130]These people are going to help provide you
- [00:02:03.280]with answers to these questions that you may have
- [00:02:05.440]but you haven't been comfortable asking before.
- [00:02:07.760]So, we'd like to thank you really quick
- [00:02:09.440]for joining in on this program.
- [00:02:11.040]We're really excited to learn and grow together
- [00:02:13.710]and see where this year in the program takes everyone.
- [00:02:17.553](upbeat music)
