Cultivate ACCESS is a holistic mentoring and development program that engages high school youth with undergraduates and industry professionals. Cultivate ACCESS ties in to many of the big problems agriculture faces in feeding a growing world and the importance STEM plays in this challenge.

[00:00:16.930]That's 30 years from now.
[00:00:18.610]So let's talk about that, 10 billion people.
[00:00:21.410]Three meals a day, that's 30 billion meals a day,
[00:00:25.210]every single day.
[00:00:26.700]Meals that are safe, nutritious,
[00:00:29.450]and cater to personal preferences.
[00:00:31.920]What would it take to do that?
[00:00:34.000]And we're not talking about just food.
[00:00:36.090]It's energy, it's water, it's healthcare,

[00:00:40.410]it's everything that we need to survive.

[00:01:05.400]and I work at the University of Nebraska,
[00:01:07.150]and I've been involved with Cultivate ACCESS for two years.
[00:01:10.040]In Cultivate ACCESS, we believe that it will take
[00:01:12.360]a diverse group of people working together
[00:01:14.810]to find creative solutions to the big challenges
[00:01:17.680]of supporting 10 billion people on our planet.
[00:01:20.600]More specifically, we need you.
[00:01:23.230]Experts predict a 35% gap
[00:01:25.870]between available jobs and qualified people
[00:01:28.850]when today's high school students graduate college,
[00:01:31.740]and that's you!
[00:01:33.640]Now more than ever, we need this workforce
[00:01:35.810]to include a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds.
[00:01:38.940]All the research shows that diversity in organizations
[00:01:41.200]result in more creativity and innovation
[00:01:44.440]and more profitable organizations.
[00:01:46.430]And the challenges that society faces
[00:01:48.290]requires those solutions to be innovative.

[00:01:54.160]through a holistic mentoring and development program
