- [00:01:02.660]I've since been able to get involved with Oasis,
- [00:01:05.020]the office of academic success, and intercultural services.
- [00:01:07.880]I got involved as a bright-eyed freshman
- [00:01:10.540]my first week of classes just as a way to
- [00:01:14.120]experience some new things in college.
- [00:01:18.500]Not only you get it's a great personal builder,
- [00:01:20.910]but, you also get to know a lot of
- [00:01:22.410]communities across campus.
- [00:01:26.010]Being involved on campus, uh, and specifically in
- [00:01:28.840]Camp Kesem, has helped me develop my skills to be a leader.
- [00:01:31.911]It really helped out freshman year,
- [00:01:33.580]when I was coming to a big city,
- [00:01:34.950]and didn't know hardly anyone.
- [00:01:39.270]A great way to build a connection on campus is
- [00:01:41.450]getting involved on campus with the clubs that
- [00:01:43.750]you're interested in.
- [00:01:45.860]I learned a lot about time management skills,
- [00:01:48.370]and how to appropriately delegate in an organization.
- [00:01:53.120]I came from a kind of a smaller town,
- [00:01:55.720]and so I knew coming to Lincoln,
- [00:01:57.500]I really wanted to have different organizations
- [00:01:59.910]that put it on me to meet a bunch of different
- [00:02:01.780]people who have similar interests as me.
- [00:02:06.977]I think that being involved has really helped me to
- [00:02:09.600]find community here on campus, um,
- [00:02:11.615]I had never been to Nebraska before,
- [00:02:14.100]so it helped me, uh, just kind of find people who,
- [00:02:16.708]uh, were interested in similar things as me
- [00:02:20.010]and uh, just was able to find that community to help me be
- [00:02:23.710]successful and help me make connections across campus.

- [00:02:32.640]here at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
- [00:02:34.640]Don't be afraid to try something new or unfamiliar.
- [00:02:37.394]That's what college is all about.
- [00:02:39.660]You will find things you like and want to join,
- [00:02:42.610]and you may find things that you don't like,
- [00:02:44.690]and that's okay!
