- [00:00:07.315]Before, before we get into all that (mumbles) stuff.
- [00:00:09.585]Before we get into all that wonderful stuff
- [00:00:10.419]How is everyone feeling after lunch?
- [00:00:12.041]Good? Sleepy? You can be honest.
- [00:00:14.899]Tired.
- [00:00:16.380]You're feeling tired? (Laughing) Okay. Well, good.
- [00:00:19.600]So hopefully I don't put you to sleep or anything like that.
- [00:00:23.318]But of course, when you actually are interested
- [00:00:25.720]in applying to the university of Nebraska
- [00:00:27.120]Were able to provide so much for you with
- [00:00:29.365]over a 150 student majors. There is always something
- [00:00:31.800]that we can actually get you connected to.
- [00:00:33.431]That's huge for us
- [00:00:35.370]because we wanna make sure we provide you
- [00:00:37.898]with as many opportunities to be successful here.
- [00:00:40.101]That would also mean connecting with professors
- [00:00:42.358]and also a lot of our faculty and staff.
- [00:00:43.191]Also to make sure you're truly
- [00:00:44.687]having a well rounded experience.
- [00:00:45.730]But we know to start that process, you have to go
- [00:00:47.920]through the application. So when your transferring,
- [00:00:51.492]if you wanna start with transferring credits,
- [00:00:53.010]just kind of look at what you want to transfer
- [00:00:56.090]into based off of what school you went to.
- [00:00:56.923]you literally can go to our admissions page.
- [00:00:58.810]We have that information on there. It's located
- [00:01:01.494]under specialized information, and then
- [00:01:03.263]it's the very first, very first link
- [00:01:06.961]that you can click on. It takes you through to this page.
- [00:01:10.791]The first thing is if you want to start
- [00:01:12.580]with transferring credits. It literally
- [00:01:13.827]takes you to another page where it walks you
- [00:01:16.530]through the process. So what transfer, what credits
- [00:01:19.830]transfer? How do you transfer credits?
- [00:01:21.580]And then, how do you finish in 4 years?
- [00:01:25.453]All those are, once you click on it,
- [00:01:27.780]we have a process that we can literally help you through.
- [00:01:31.310]So we use Transferology and also your
- [00:01:34.023]credit evaluation policy and we can actually use this list.
- [00:01:38.230]You can click on it, it takes you through there. (Cough)
- [00:01:41.207]We use Transferology, which is a helpful tool, it literally
- [00:01:44.016]allows you to take and put in all the classes
- [00:01:46.480]that you're taking at your current university or college.
- [00:01:50.662]And then see which one that you're taking,
- [00:01:52.290]or want to be taking, that they're offering here
- [00:01:55.020]which will transfer over.
- [00:01:56.983]So that's a very helpful tool. It kind of gives you
- [00:01:58.610]a snapshot of which courses that you're taking now
- [00:02:01.296]Which will transfer over and what they transfer as
- [00:02:05.084]I'll give you a bunch of steps here.
- [00:02:07.305](Mumbles) You get started, create your account,
- [00:02:11.141]then you can probably find out what specific courses
- [00:02:12.411]are offered and what they transfer over as.
- [00:02:14.525]It shouldn't take too terribly long to do
- [00:02:16.300]depends on how many courses you've taken
- [00:02:17.827]but that is the process that we, I highly encourage
- [00:02:20.580]so you understand how many credits your coming in as.
- [00:02:23.448]So if your coming in as, technically your transferring
- [00:02:25.703]with 24 credit hours or your transferring with 12
- [00:02:29.221]I want you to know what that looks like for you
- [00:02:31.980]and how long that's likely to put your degree plan
- [00:02:34.236]to make sure we try to get you out of here
- [00:02:36.568]in four years. So, that's the big one.
- [00:02:38.921]And then credit evaluation one.
- [00:02:40.758]Two you can click on it, Let me click on it
- [00:02:42.523]so you can see what it looks like. Find your institution,
- [00:02:46.800]and you can kind of go through that process and
- [00:02:49.627]enter that information there. So that way,
- [00:02:51.342]you can see what kind of comes in as for the university.
- [00:02:54.469]So, depending on what class you're taking,
- [00:02:57.899]you can see pretty much the equivalent of that course
- [00:03:00.636]that you're taking. So, that way it helps you be
- [00:03:02.421]Kind of concerned with (cough)
- [00:03:04.007]if you wanna take a class at your current university
- [00:03:06.260]or college and Work out a transfer program. So that way
- [00:03:10.026]you planning a transfer within one year or once after,
- [00:03:13.370]it decides on what course you need to transfer, or
- [00:03:15.578]something that would be helpful for you
- [00:03:17.367]to take at our [Mumbles]
- [00:03:19.696]so that's huge. Any questions so far?
- [00:03:30.254][Mumbles]
- [00:03:33.334]It's on our list of courses that pretty much
- [00:03:34.783]break down what we offer, our course equivalency.
- [00:03:37.000]At the university.
- [00:03:38.014][Male Audience Member] Have you helped others from
- [00:03:39.844]NICT come here?
- [00:03:41.389]Speaker yup un hun.We have a I'm pretty much
- [00:03:43.813]a rep out there.I do a little bit of helping.
- [00:03:46.697]So I'm out there and I'll be going tomorrow
- [00:03:48.720]to help them some more students.
- [00:03:50.742]I also work for amal issue and all those individuals
- [00:03:54.290]in the surrounding community to make sure we
- [00:03:55.930]get them to college and help them know
- [00:03:58.566]what that process is. I also oversee our
- [00:04:01.105]Nebraska College prepatory academy over at
- [00:04:03.016]Woodland middle school.So we'll have
- [00:04:05.162]technically students coming here
- [00:04:07.241]who want to enroll here this upcoming year.
- [00:04:08.531]There actually seniors so I'm pretty familiar
- [00:04:09.364]with the process and what transfer over.
- [00:04:12.361]And also with the systems that we work with
- [00:04:15.723]so I understand what that looks like for you.
- [00:04:19.440]The course you take out at NITC, a lot
- [00:04:22.156]of those courses transfer. And also at your
- [00:04:25.277]institution a lot of those courses transfer
- [00:04:27.101]over to. It's just what they'll transfer over as.
- [00:04:29.467]We want to make sure we can kind of help
- [00:04:30.390]you understand.Cool, so everybody good with that?
- [00:04:35.329]So the next step, applying. Since you are
- [00:04:38.967]going to be applying and have to apply
- [00:04:41.900]to get admitted into the university of course.
- [00:04:44.610]Once you apply, what were looking for
- [00:04:46.503]as a transfer student is you have to have
- [00:04:48.360]above a 2.0 in the last semester that you've
- [00:04:51.940]taken classes and above a 2.0GPA accumulative GPA
- [00:04:57.521]to be admitted.So we're looking at those
- [00:05:00.370]So of course the higher your GPA, especially if you've
- [00:05:03.659]done some classes in that last semester, make sure
- [00:05:05.640]you've applied to the university and you finish
- [00:05:08.497]strong.Because those, we look at that information.
- [00:05:11.720]So pretty much make sure you get entrance to the university.
- [00:05:14.577]That's huge for us because based off of
- [00:05:20.399]the classes that you take, and the GPA, and everything
- [00:05:23.898]you bring in we have scholarships. Which is the
- [00:05:25.990]next tab. Which pretty much afford you a lot of
- [00:05:28.565]options. So once you apply for transfer student admission
- [00:05:30.959]the deadline of the application, for you to view,
- [00:05:35.213]all the information is available for you
- [00:05:36.699]We actually have a lot of scholarships to give out.
- [00:05:37.532]So we have our Native American Heritage scholarship
- [00:05:40.075]Which statistically can range from $1000
- [00:05:40.908]all the way through the cost of tuition
- [00:05:44.050]We have two of those to give out every
- [00:05:45.702]year for two students transferring to
- [00:05:47.115]the university so, the last two years we haven't
- [00:05:51.121]given out not one.
- [00:05:53.043][Male Audience Member] Not every year?
- [00:05:54.311]Speaker two years
- [00:05:56.036][Male Audience Member] So whose going to apply here?
- [00:05:59.362][Giggling]
- [00:06:00.384]Speaker so to be honest we have problems having
- [00:06:02.940]students actually apply for the Native American
- [00:06:06.788]Heritage Scholarships.Thats undergraduate and graduate
- [00:06:09.824]I mean transfer, transferring in students
- [00:06:12.023]So That's an application out there
- [00:06:12.856]that we want to make sure we can give
- [00:06:15.607]you some money so apply. It's only like an
- [00:06:17.520]additional essay that you guys have to fill out
- [00:06:20.347]It's pretty quick,simple and the question
- [00:06:21.880]pretty much ask you what is your ties to the
- [00:06:24.690]Native American culture and what have you
- [00:06:26.970]been doing in the community and pretty sure
- [00:06:29.770]all of you can speak to that.
- [00:06:33.078]So, that's there for you. So, as I mentioned
- [00:06:38.912]performance requirement list.
- [00:06:40.717]I said 2.0 and then we still look at
- [00:06:44.240]your core requirements though. We look at those core
- [00:06:46.300]classes to make sure we can evaluate you
- [00:06:48.927]and make sure your taking the right classes.
- [00:06:52.137]So, the big one that we, I honestly
- [00:06:54.385]see a lot of students not meet is that math
- [00:06:56.329]and also we have some of the natural sciences
- [00:06:59.103]So just make sure you pay attention
- [00:07:01.747]to what classes you take in your high school
- [00:07:03.676]or while your at your current institution.
- [00:07:06.742]To make sure your kind of meeting some
- [00:07:08.921]of those core requirements.Kind of knock it
- [00:07:10.659]off your list of things that you need to do.
- [00:07:15.781]Okay. Any questions so far?
- [00:07:23.070]I will say there are different requirements
- [00:07:25.648]for different departments and all that information
- [00:07:27.834]I'll show to you in just a minute here.
- [00:07:29.689]but I'll go back to show you some of the
- [00:07:30.663]scholarships.
- [00:07:35.930]If you ever want to look at
- [00:07:36.887]the scholarship information just go to the website
- [00:07:41.519]literally click on transfer and it gives you
- [00:07:44.761]a whole list of scholarships that are available.
- [00:07:48.798][Child Speaking]
- [00:07:50.048]These are the ones
- [00:07:51.573][Female Audience Member] Is that the one you were just
- [00:07:55.564]talking about? - Speaker Yup this one here
- [00:07:57.550]transfer region and then the whoa, there it is
- [00:08:04.185]yeah. So that's the one.
- [00:08:07.275]So those
- [00:08:08.220]are the ones I want to make sure you guys
- [00:08:09.810]know about. We also have other ones to
- [00:08:12.703]for out of state students, that won't play a role
- [00:08:15.282]in that but these are all the out of state students
- [00:08:18.585]So a lot of these down here where we didn't have
- [00:08:20.440]the date was changed. 2000 transfer student
- [00:08:24.824]scholarship, so it's a lot of them.
- [00:08:27.238]So, I would encourage you guys to have a look at them
- [00:08:28.071]see what's out there
- [00:08:29.726]Some of our bigger ones as you can see
- [00:08:32.041]are based off your GPA and stuff like that
- [00:08:33.697]are at the top. So, that's typically how we try to
- [00:08:36.900]sort it is the top is the top based off of your grade
- [00:08:43.085]okay?
- [00:08:49.602]So at this point a lot of
- [00:08:50.960]the information as far as transferring
- [00:08:53.695]is pretty straight forward. We will once you
- [00:08:55.831]graduate from your institution or once you transfer
- [00:08:57.810]we will require those transcripts
- [00:08:59.530]so make sure you send those transcripts
- [00:09:01.937]to us. That's one of the parts
- [00:09:03.937]that we meet a lot of students
- [00:09:05.412]that not necessarily get held up in the
- [00:09:06.729]process but we have to verify the classes
- [00:09:08.722]that they've taken or the course that you take.
- [00:09:09.555]Pretty much our application is
- [00:09:11.703][Female Audience Member] What's your application fee?
- [00:09:13.883]Speaker $45
- [00:09:14.716][Female Audience Member] $45?
- [00:09:15.549]Speaker yes $45 but if you are
- [00:09:17.570]let me go back to that so you can see it
- [00:09:30.522]$45 you can pay debit, credit card or anything
- [00:09:34.631]like that. So that is there.
- [00:09:39.914]I'm not 100% sure if we utilize that information
- [00:09:44.582]But that $45 fee or what plays into that but
- [00:09:48.370]right now it's just $45. Yeah any other questions?
- [00:09:53.055]Any questions?
- [00:10:03.393]Okay at this point
- [00:10:05.622]I want to go back to the transfer page
- [00:10:08.741]because there is a lot of relevant information
- [00:10:11.097]on this page at the bottom. So we also have
- [00:10:12.660]our transfer honors program so depending on
- [00:10:15.360]if you want to pursue that. It gives you a work opportunity
- [00:10:18.700]to work with our honors program.
- [00:10:20.568]They do a lot of hands on stuff and offer a lot
- [00:10:23.560]of things you see here. Not just
- [00:10:25.934]stuff with your intelligence but
- [00:10:27.240]take honors classes, work with faculty
- [00:10:30.886]and faculty mentors on a one on one
- [00:10:32.741]basis. And also you can have the advantage
- [00:10:36.266]of taking a study abroad trip if you
- [00:10:38.312]would like to do that as well.
- [00:10:39.990]And then they offer a lot of student
- [00:10:42.098]internships depending on what your majoring in and
- [00:10:44.599]if you see a lot of value in this. But the big thing
- [00:10:47.250]for them is the. So of course if your
- [00:10:49.810]coming in with a lot of credits already
- [00:10:51.820]So we want to make sure that your taking
- [00:10:53.796]the proper classes before you even get to this
- [00:10:54.920]university to make sure we get you out
- [00:10:56.400]of here in as close to four years, if
- [00:10:58.430]not sooner with that degree. So, depending on
- [00:11:01.530]what program you go into, it may be a little bit
- [00:11:04.440]longer.I know engineering has some
- [00:11:07.106]strict requirements in regards to what they
- [00:11:09.961]offer for students. So make sure you pay attention
- [00:11:12.728]to some of those requirements. But
- [00:11:13.700]if you look and don't have some of
- [00:11:15.775]the information you would like the actual
- [00:11:18.720]advisor contact is listed and you can scroll
- [00:11:22.641]base off of what your trying to major in. Okay?
- [00:11:31.316]So on this page you can actually see
- [00:11:34.319]some of those efficiencies and why those credits
- [00:11:39.253]come in as either a half efficiency in math
- [00:11:41.660]as I talked to you about but you can also remove
- [00:11:44.597]a lot of those by taking some of the classes you need
- [00:11:48.698]to fulfill those early on. But you also
- [00:11:51.382]can reach out to the university to see
- [00:11:52.799]what core efficiencies are required of you
- [00:11:55.123]using unofficial transcripts of course and see
- [00:11:57.240]what core classes that you haven't taken already.
- [00:12:00.688]But we can look at you, use that transcript and
- [00:12:03.425]evaluate who and what to take.
- [00:12:05.152]That way if you want to transfer tot he university
- [00:12:07.759]we can make that process a lot easier for you
- [00:12:09.877]So you know what you need to take and your taking
- [00:12:10.710]those classes. To transfer to the university
- [00:12:13.339]right now with 12 credit hours and that's all
- [00:12:16.129]your looking at.So even considering to be a
- [00:12:18.448]transfer student so if you take those 12
- [00:12:21.143]credit hours any credits that you take above that
- [00:12:23.024]it's just helping depending on what your degree
- [00:12:25.545]plan is. But I always encourage you to reach
- [00:12:27.118]out an advisor so that they can actually
- [00:12:28.205]talk to you about the process and what that's
- [00:12:29.635]going to look like for you.
- [00:12:30.468]So I wanted to leave roughly
- [00:12:33.480]about 10 minutes for questions.
- [00:12:37.112]What questions do you have for me?
The screen size you are trying to search captions on is too small!
You can always jump over to MediaHub and check it out there.
