[00:00:10.060]We are funded by the National Science Foundation,
[00:00:12.740]to work on topics relating to
[00:00:15.269]both optical networking and cyber security.
[00:00:19.450]I think security is very important for any organization.
[00:00:23.630]And especially campus networks.
[00:00:26.304]So, our challenge has been
[00:00:28.320]to design efficient architectures.
[00:00:31.020]By which we can secure all types of flows.
[00:00:34.160]Particularly, these big data science flows.
[00:00:37.630]What I do is look at securing large data transfers.
[00:00:42.570]And I do that by using a paradigm card,
[00:00:46.630]Software-Defined Networking.
[00:00:48.150]Software-Defined Networking or SDN,
[00:00:51.320]focuses on using software solutions
[00:00:54.780]to essentially manage and control the network,
[00:00:58.540]in a seamless and dynamic manner.
[00:01:01.260]It's a great place because I get the opportunity
[00:01:04.080]to work with some fantastic researchers here.
[00:01:08.270]And people want me to be successful.
[00:01:12.051]And they go out of their way
[00:01:14.730]to get me opportunities to find
[00:01:18.200]the right things for me to get started on,
[00:01:20.420]in my research program.
[00:01:21.660]I really value the opportunity I have
[00:01:24.750]to teach students in the classroom,
[00:01:26.650]in a more formal setting.
[00:01:28.300]But also being able to mentor and guide students,
[00:01:31.860]as they progress in their research.
[00:01:34.320]So, I appreciate and greatly value
[00:01:37.130]the interaction I have with each student,
[00:01:40.520]where we can tackle challenging problems.
