- [00:00:00.580]Hi there, today we're gonna highlight lasers.
- [00:00:03.380]It's specifically these Epilog Fusion lasers.
- [00:00:06.650]Now these are great for projects that range
- [00:00:08.770]from small to large projects.
- [00:00:11.630]Safety-wise, there are a couple concerns.
- [00:00:14.330]Mainly, with the laser, as it heats up,
- [00:00:17.660]it will burn the material, now, this can lead to fire.
- [00:00:21.410]There a couple steps that we can take
- [00:00:22.960]to make sure that this doesn't happen.
- [00:00:24.970]The first step is to lift the lid.
- [00:00:26.680]This will actually stop the laser in this process.
- [00:00:30.620]The second step would be to use a piece of material
- [00:00:33.610]that you are not cutting, to smother the fire.
- [00:00:37.280]This will extinguish it, by taking away all the oxygen.
- [00:00:40.840]The third method is to take a spray bottle of water
- [00:00:44.400]and to actually spray the fire out.
- [00:00:46.790]And lastly, would be to use a fire extinguisher.
- [00:00:50.400]Now this is the last measure because a fire extinguisher
- [00:00:53.460]could damage the machine.
- [00:00:55.520]All of our laser projects begin on the computer.
- [00:00:58.180]So let's jump into that, and get started.
- [00:01:01.090]I'm starting with a pretty basic design,
- [00:01:03.020]so there isn't much I'll need to adjust on it.
- [00:01:05.110]Hit File and then Print.
- [00:01:06.710]And Setup and Preferences
- [00:01:08.220]and that'll lead you to the Epilog box.
- [00:01:10.210]Here you can fill out your percentages for the power,
- [00:01:12.485]speed and frequency of the material that you're cutting.
- [00:01:15.830]Here we are using eighth inch wood.
- [00:01:18.340]After that you will wanna change the size
- [00:01:20.790]of your material as selected here.
- [00:01:23.940]Then you can hit OK then Print.
- [00:01:26.430]Before we can begin cutting we need to make sure
- [00:01:28.920]we turn the air filter on.
- [00:01:30.450]If we forget to do this, it'll fill the chamber
- [00:01:32.480]with smoke and can damage the laser lens.
- [00:01:36.292](upbeat music)
- [00:01:41.670]After we turned on the air filter, now we need
- [00:01:43.560]to focus the laser to make sure
- [00:01:45.070]that it will cut the right depth.
- [00:01:47.180]So going to the focus settings, we can scroll down,
- [00:01:51.970]and then use the joystick to move it up or down
- [00:01:54.510]to actually focus the tool.
- [00:01:56.610]Make sure that when you're focusing, you use the focus tool
- [00:02:00.010]and place it on there so that it will
- [00:02:01.450]just touch your material.
- [00:02:05.420]Once the laser is focused,
- [00:02:06.530]then we can hit Go, and start our cut.
- [00:02:10.071](upbeat music)
