Hear from students about their experience traveling to Benin, West Africa. This program focuses on entrepreneurial development in the emerging economy of Benin, led by Director of International Business, Dr. J. Kalu Osiri.

[00:00:01.560]I tried comparing it to the other countries
[00:00:03.610]that I have traveled to in the past
[00:00:05.190]but immediately I realized that I couldn't
[00:00:07.160]because it was so different
[00:00:08.171]because of the geography and the layout
[00:00:10.750]and it was colonized by France
[00:00:12.100]which makes it really different and interesting.
[00:00:14.490]So it really made for a really great experience.
[00:00:16.970]We also got to meet with locals on the first night
[00:00:19.470]so that just made me more and more curious for the next day.

[00:00:25.200]I think one thing that I took away was a new appreciation
[00:00:28.240]for international cultures.
[00:00:29.950]It's one thing to learn about it in classes
[00:00:32.139]at the university and it's another thing
[00:00:34.100]to experience it firsthand.
[00:00:35.250]So, for me that was something that I really took away
[00:00:38.060]was understanding what it means to be internationally
[00:00:42.200]focused and have an international mindset
[00:00:44.570]and then another thing that I gained
[00:00:46.610]was five new friends which was something that
[00:00:49.050]I wasn't expecting prior to the trip.
[00:00:52.830]Students can expect amazing eclectic culture of Benin.

[00:01:01.610]and the history of these fine people.

[00:01:07.150]which makes experience relatable to both the United States
[00:01:09.750]and also local culture, you get to experience both
[00:01:11.520]and it's unlike anything you've ever experienced before
