[00:00:07.490]Hi, I'm Logan.
[00:00:08.500]Welcome to the Outdoor Adventure Center
[00:00:10.200]at the University of Nebraska.
[00:00:11.870]We're gonna go inside and see the largest
[00:00:13.140]rock-climbing wall in the city of Nebraska.
[00:00:20.090]So currently, we are inside of our rock-climbing gym.
[00:00:22.330]Right behind me actually, on this giant pad,
[00:00:24.690]this is all of our bouldering wall.
[00:00:26.430]Bouldering's kind of like the free-weight climbing,
[00:00:27.950]so you won't be roped in.
[00:00:29.080]Over here, you'll have a harness on.
[00:00:31.150]You'll have somebody belaying you at all times.
[00:00:32.980]You do have to take a $20 course
[00:00:34.930]to be able to belay and do all that kind of stuff.
[00:00:36.800]If you don't know if you wanna take the course or not,
[00:00:38.960]you do get a 20-minute free climb session
[00:00:41.250]and you get that every semester.
[00:00:42.520]You'll notice all the cool colors of the rocks.
[00:00:44.890]Every rock pattern is set up for different difficulties.
[00:00:48.040]Behind me, we have the blue triangles.
[00:00:49.500]Those are our auto-belays, so those are
[00:00:51.180]just machine spotters in case
[00:00:52.910]you just wanna come climb alone.
[00:00:54.120]Next, we're gonna head over to our campus bike shop.
[00:00:59.620]So currently, we are inside of our campus bike shop.
[00:01:01.620]Here, you can get your bike repaired.
[00:01:03.080]You can also rent a bike and you can rent a bike
[00:01:05.190]up to an entire semester, so that's a pretty good deal,
[00:01:08.150]and you can also buy a bike if you
[00:01:09.240]ever just want or need one.
[00:01:10.790]It makes it so that you don't have to bring
[00:01:11.830]your bike from home.
[00:01:12.770]Over here, we have certain things that
[00:01:14.980]you can purchase, so if you ever want a water bottle,
[00:01:17.110]a helmet, a bike lock, all the necessities,
[00:01:19.750]this is a good place to come do it,
[00:01:20.920]and then, over at this desk,
[00:01:22.210]this is our equipment rental section.
[00:01:24.340]There's a lot of cool stuff you can rent through here.
[00:01:26.980]You can get canoes, kayaks, paddle boards,
[00:01:29.210]all that kinda stuff.
[00:01:30.050]For example, I went to Nevada and my friends
[00:01:32.360]and I rented sleeping bags, tents, and a giant cooler.
[00:01:36.330]You can also get skiing gear, so if you ever wanna go skiing
[00:01:39.370]over in Colorado, you can rent it here and go over.
[00:01:41.500]You can also get rock-climbing gear.
[00:01:43.310]Next, we're actually gonna head over to the front desk
[00:01:44.840]and we'll kind of explain more about trips.
[00:01:48.280]So, here at the Outdoor Adventure Center,
[00:01:49.670]we offer a variety of trips.
[00:01:51.100]I'm gonna actually have Paul, who's one
[00:01:52.370]of our trip leaders, kind of explain what they do.
[00:01:54.860]We offer a wide variety of trips.
[00:01:56.740]We do a bunch of different activities, like rock-climbing,
[00:01:59.880]backpacking, canoeing, and other paddle sports.
[00:02:03.320]We visit lots of different places across the US
[00:02:06.200]and the best part about these trips
[00:02:07.510]is that they're very affordable for students.
[00:02:09.450]They cover transportation, food, gear rental,
[00:02:12.920]and almost no experience is needed,
[00:02:14.890]so we'll do all the education on the trip for you.
[00:02:20.080]And those trips are happening almost every weekend
[00:02:22.460]throughout the school year, so it's definitely
[00:02:24.010]a great opportunity for you guys.
[00:02:26.874]Thank you for joining me today.
[00:02:28.510]Hope to see you on campus for a real tour.
[00:02:30.450]To schedule a real visit,
[00:02:31.550]go to go.unl.edu/visit and hope to see you soon.
