The Early Learning Network is uncovering information around several themes that are important in understanding children’s learning and development:

-Mixed Auspices
The research teams are also using OLOS — a new, web-based classroom observation tool — as part of ELN's nationwide studies.

- [00:00:11.460]the Early Learning Network Lead,
- [00:00:13.490]funded by the Institute of Education Sciences.
- [00:00:16.760]For the last three years,
- [00:00:18.020]our research and assessment teams
- [00:00:19.230]from across the United States have leveraged
- [00:00:22.000]the network's expertise, resources,
- [00:00:24.400]and geographic diversity to help make
- [00:00:27.140]a difference in children's learning.
- [00:00:29.870]We are starting to understand what makes
- [00:00:31.358]for effective transitions over the early years
- [00:00:34.580]and we're developing innovative tools
- [00:00:36.430]to hone in on what's happening
- [00:00:38.149]in classrooms around the country.
- [00:00:40.640]Through our nationwide studies,
- [00:00:42.490]we are uncovering information around several themes
- [00:00:46.020]that are important to better understand
- [00:00:47.900]children's learning and development.
- [00:00:50.170]For example, our teams are comparing outcomes
- [00:00:53.050]for children who attended center-based preschool programs
- [00:00:56.190]with those who did not, and we're analyzing
- [00:00:58.400]the implications of this kind of experience
- [00:01:00.600]for later learning.
- [00:01:03.190]The network is also examining children's individual
- [00:01:05.590]classroom experiences, particularly for children
- [00:01:08.170]who are dual-language learners.
- [00:01:12.480]We are interested in learning which skills support
- [00:01:14.720]children's positive trajectories
- [00:01:16.660]from preschool to kindergarten
- [00:01:18.430]and as they move through the early grades.
- [00:01:22.940]We are investing time in understanding
- [00:01:24.540]the impacts of having a well-aligned school curriculum
