- [00:00:01.807](inspirational acoustic music)
- [00:00:14.595]I don't know the first thing I thought of
- [00:00:15.687]was actually just my parents, cause I'm a triplet,
- [00:00:18.159]so my parents are sending three to school at the same time
- [00:00:20.834]and... it's still not cheap, but...
- [00:00:25.386]having to relieve some of that pressure, I don't know.
- [00:00:28.821]The first thing I did was call my mom when she was at work,
- [00:00:30.854]and she drove home right away she was so happy.
- [00:00:34.305]And we just talked about why, but I--
- [00:00:36.153]My parents were definitely the first thing I thought about,
- [00:00:38.127]and I was glad I could help them out a little bit.
- [00:00:40.501]I was just so thankful, and I know
- [00:00:44.029]that maybe doesn't do justice to my feelings particularly,
- [00:00:47.778]but I was just so thankful and relieved
- [00:00:50.853]to know that I would be able to
- [00:00:53.430]focus my time and energy after work on school.
- [00:00:57.385]And I know I still have to spend all my weekends and stuff,
- [00:00:59.293]but I knew that going in that this is
- [00:01:02.014]gonna consume me for a couple years,
- [00:01:03.778]but the ability or like the realization
- [00:01:06.625]that I was gonna have that little extra help
- [00:01:09.328]to just make it more manageable and possible
- [00:01:12.951]was very relieving to me and it also reminded me that
- [00:01:16.280]when I get to where I'm going that
- [00:01:18.380]I wanna give back as well.
- [00:01:20.270]As they have blessed me with too.
- [00:01:22.716](upbeat music)
- [00:01:27.975]It has made a huge impact in my life.
- [00:01:31.595]So I was not sure if I would be able
- [00:01:34.206]to get into the graduate school again.
- [00:01:36.825]So this fellowship definitely helped me
- [00:01:39.265]to de-stress my financial burden.
- [00:01:42.374]And it also gave me the confidence
- [00:01:44.294]and helped me to dream big.
- [00:01:47.954]It allowed me to get a fellowship this semester.
- [00:01:55.020]It allowed me to go to Japan and live a life-long goal.
- [00:02:00.851]Cause I've always wanted to go there and I finally did.
- [00:02:04.742]So it kind of helped me in that way.
- [00:02:08.672]It made me a well-rounded person, the trip.
- [00:02:13.691]Being able to see another culture,
- [00:02:17.922]it just kinda opened up my eyes.
- [00:02:20.437]It's really given me an opportunity
- [00:02:21.903]to branch out and focus on what I wanna do
- [00:02:23.761]rather than having to worry about working
- [00:02:26.062]to make money in order to pay for college.
- [00:02:28.235]So I've got to really focus on my studies more
- [00:02:30.419]and really excel in my academics.
- [00:02:31.820]And I've also got to make a really great group
- [00:02:33.663]of friends that are gonna be life-long
- [00:02:35.300]and also get to do a job that I love, that's part time.
- [00:02:38.479]And it's just made those possibilities really real for me.
- [00:02:41.761](upbeat music)
- [00:02:46.860]I plan to teach.
- [00:02:48.881]I would love to teach abroad for a year or two.
- [00:02:51.520]So I'd love to experience somewhere other than Nebraska,
- [00:02:54.950]but if I get the opportunity I would love to teach here
- [00:02:57.441]for at least a year in Nebraska.
- [00:02:59.590]And then hopefully I get to teach abroad.
- [00:03:02.573](upbeat music)
- [00:03:07.705]I could just give them a big hug. (laughs)
- [00:03:09.698]And a big thank you and let them know that really,
- [00:03:12.729]I mean every penny every generous penny
- [00:03:15.198]that we've received has made the difference.
- [00:03:18.958]Has really impacted us in our ability
- [00:03:23.307]to grow a life and prepare to have a family.
- [00:03:27.701]It's helped me be able to buy books
- [00:03:30.870]and not have to pick, you know, books over
- [00:03:35.038]then not being able to pay off the debt,
- [00:03:36.822]or not being able to have groceries that month.
- [00:03:40.289]It has really made a huge difference.
- [00:03:43.508]I just say that they're like, awesome.
- [00:03:46.178]Like just the fact that you're willing to give
- [00:03:49.219]so that someone else can benefit from it
- [00:03:50.929]that's just an amazing thing to do and I'm very grateful.
- [00:03:53.648]And whoever, I'm sure gets another scholarship
- [00:03:56.249]will be grateful as well because it does help us
- [00:03:58.350]and it takes like, that burden off our backs
- [00:04:00.638]so that we can focus more on our education.
- [00:04:03.625](upbeat music)
