- [00:00:02.070]3-2-1 Quick Pitch.
- [00:00:03.730]Well, the clue is in the name.
- [00:00:05.840]It's three minutes to pitch one idea.
- [00:00:09.680]Not only is it, explain your business or your idea
- [00:00:13.670]in three minutes or less, but it's a chance to really test
- [00:00:16.230]your theory and test you communication skills.
- [00:00:18.410]How quickly and succinctly can you explain
- [00:00:21.440]or describe not only your idea and your vision,
- [00:00:24.350]but your passion for it.
- [00:00:25.690]It's just a great opportunity to talk about your business
- [00:00:27.820]and get a ton of feedback and coaching
- [00:00:29.770]to help you go to the next level.
- [00:00:31.680]Very low risk for a lot of reward
- [00:00:33.560]and a lot of value that you can get out of your business.
- [00:00:36.360]The most exciting thing for me about entrepreneurship
- [00:00:39.560]is getting to experiment on every crazy idea that you have.
- [00:00:44.540]That process of just getting to brainstorm
- [00:00:47.220]and think of the wackiest ideas possible
- [00:00:49.410]and give that a try, is a lot of fun for me.
- [00:00:53.250]So yeah. It's really interesting to see students
- [00:00:55.980]pitch at the 3-2-1 Quick Pitch
- [00:00:58.710]then go on to develop their business idea,
- [00:01:01.150]and then later perhaps enter our business plan competition.
- [00:01:04.210]And then even develop that into an actual,
- [00:01:06.760]real business that gets revenue and customers
- [00:01:09.750]and they become entrepreneurs in the real world.
- [00:01:13.700]I helped start a business called Farm Field
- [00:01:15.810]with a couple buddies.
- [00:01:16.700]Farm Field helps people who wanna buy cattle.
- [00:01:19.380]We build the software to really get people involved
- [00:01:21.780]in agriculture and investing in agriculture.
- [00:01:24.360]We've raised some capital.
- [00:01:25.650]We've hired some full-time people.
- [00:01:27.340]We've got an actual product now.
- [00:01:29.100]It's turning into more of a real business
- [00:01:31.090]and into the later startup stages.
- [00:01:33.610]We started with just an idea that we pitched
- [00:01:36.180]in a couple minutes in Quick Pitch.
- [00:01:37.870]So the year that I had lost,
- [00:01:40.340]it was my second year of doing Quick Pitch,
- [00:01:42.230]I pitched my company, Family Pet Project,
- [00:01:44.500]which was a website to help people re-home their own pets.
- [00:01:47.320]The feedback that I got through that
- [00:01:48.930]helped me really examine the business model
- [00:01:52.350]a lot more than I was previously.
- [00:01:54.530]Through that reexamine of the business model,
- [00:01:57.600]I started coming up with other ideas of what would
- [00:02:01.300]still be around helping animals, but would be more viable
- [00:02:05.620]and sustainable as a for-profit business.
- [00:02:08.200]That's how I came up with Pawlytics.
- [00:02:10.210]I was able to call up the mentors that had given me
- [00:02:12.410]that feedback through Quick Pitch,
- [00:02:14.200]sit down with them and go over my new business idea
- [00:02:16.950]and take it in that direction.
- [00:02:18.770]So that's how I ended up on Pawlytics today.
- [00:02:21.210]I would recommend for high school students
- [00:02:23.010]to participate in 3-2-1 because it's a great
- [00:02:25.130]opportunity to get your idea out there but also
- [00:02:28.020]bounce your ideas off of other people including judges.
- [00:02:30.450]People with experience who can give you real, honest,
- [00:02:33.520]real-world guidance.
- [00:02:34.850]Even though I really didn't know what I was doing,
- [00:02:38.850]I had an idea and I was very passionate about it.
- [00:02:41.440]That is enough for people to reach out to you
- [00:02:43.870]and want to help you and want to help you grow.
- [00:02:46.760]It's a great opportunity to be surrounded by other people,
- [00:02:49.700]especially people your age who are trying to build something
- [00:02:52.210]and trying to run their own business which is really unique.
- [00:02:55.280]So this is a great opportunity.
- [00:02:56.470]Take advantage of it.
- [00:02:58.112](upbeat music)
