"description": "With Brad Lubben, Associate Professor and Extension Ag Policy Specialist, UNL Center for Agricultural Profitability \r\n\r\nThe \u201cOne Big Beautiful Bill Act,\u201d passed by Congress and signed by the president on July 4, reauthorizes and increases federal support for farmers and ranchers in the commodity programs, crop insurance programs, and disaster assistance programs. The reconciliation legislation also includes other increases in federal ag programs for trade promotion, research, and animal disease management among other provisions. \r\n\r\nThe increased ag support comes at a cost, primarily though cuts to food assistance programs, straining the fragile farm and food coalition that has historically worked on farm bill reauthorization. What remains of that coalition may be tested soon as the reconciliation legislation left other parts of the farm bill to be addressed before they expire at the end of September. \r\n\r\nThis webinar will cover the farm bill provisions in the reconciliation bill and the implications for farmers and ranchers now and in the year ahead. On July 16, 2025, Nebraska filed to sue Colorado in the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the South Platte River Compact. This webinar will explore the background of what led up to this lawsuit, what general legal issues Nebraska and Colorado would like the Supreme Court to address, and the role of a Special Master if the Supreme Court accepts the case. If the Court does accept the case, it is likely to take up to several years to resolve the many legal issues involved.

With Brad Lubben, Associate Professor and Extension Ag Policy Specialist, UNL Center for Agricultural Profitability
The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” passed by Congress and signed by the president on July 4, reauthorizes and increases federal support for farmers and ranchers in the commodity programs, crop insurance programs, and disaster assistance programs. The reconciliation legislation also includes other increases in federal ag programs for trade promotion, research, and animal disease management among other provisions.
The increased ag support comes at a cost, primarily though cuts to food assistance programs, straining the fragile farm and food coalition that has historically worked on farm bill reauthorization. What remains of that coalition may be tested soon as the reconciliation legislation left other parts of the farm bill to be addressed before they expire at the end of September.
This webinar will cover the farm bill provisions in the reconciliation bill and the implications for farmers and ranchers now and in the year ahead. The webinar will also discuss other provisions affecting agriculture as well as the farm bill components that were not included and remain on the to do list for the weeks ahead.

At the 2025 Lancaster County Super Fair, 20 4-H'ers and 5 alumni shared how their 4-H fair experiences make them "beyond ready" for their life and career.

Offered since 2019, the quarterly webinars address common management issues for Nebraska landowners, agricultural operators, and related stakeholders interested in the latest insight on trends in real estate, managing agricultural land and solutions for addressing challenges in the upcoming growing season.
The August 2025 webinar will cover final 2025 Nebraska Farm Real Estate Survey and Report estimates, including agricultural land values and cash rental rates in Nebraska, as well as a special feature report on hunting lease comparisons for wild game in Nebraska. A segment on landlord/tenant communication will include discussion on communicating crop progress on leased land and terminating verbal leases before the approaching deadline. A Q&A period will also provide attendees an opportunity to have their land management and leasing questions answered.
