This success depends on factors that include costs, equipment, and managerial practices. It starts with Hybrid selection and involves aspects of infrastructure and preparation as well as and managerial prowess.\r\n\r\nThe key is optimizing production on a field-by-field basis. With Matt Stockton, Professor and Agricultural Economics Specialist, UNL; Randy Lloyd, Research Facility Coordinator, UNL; and Abia Katimbo, Assistant Professor and Irrigation Management Specialist, UNL.
Irrigation and nutrient management are key to success for many Nebraska producers. This success depends on factors that include costs, equipment, and managerial practices. It starts with Hybrid selection and involves aspects of infrastructure and preparation as well as and managerial prowess.
The key is optimizing production on a field-by-field basis. The difference in outcome was illustrated recently in the 2024 TAPS contest in North Platte, where there was a 68-bushel difference in performance, directly attributable to differing irrigation and nitrogen management.
This webinar will present a three-person panel discussion including an Agronomist, Water Engineer, and an Agricultural Economist.

Apply by June 7, 2025 for Nebraska Extension's 2025 Small Meat Processor Management Training Program at https://cap.unl.edu/meatprocessors.
Nebraska Extension, UNL's Center for Agricultural Profitability and UNL's Department of Animal Science's Meat Science program will host their 2025 Meat Processing Management Training program for owners, managers, and management-track employees of small meat processing plants, from June-November 2025.
The program is centered around a weeklong in-person experience to guide participants in working to ensure a successful and profitable future through understanding their business and future goals while developing a continuous improvement mindset. It also includes two virtual meetings (pre- and post-program) as well as a virtual HACCP certification training. The program aims to help managers build their knowledge of the industry, their employees, financial management, and more.
Custom exempt and federally inspected plants are encouraged to apply. Up to two people per plant will be accepted. ]]></description>

That effort launched May 7, when more than 260 faculty, campus administrators and community leaders gathered at the Nebraska Union for the “Research and Innovation Convening,” a strategic planning summit led by the Office of Research and Innovation.

<title>Nebraska and U.S. Farm Income Update and Outlook – Spring 2025 (May 1, 2025 Webinar)</title>

With: Brad Lubben, Associate Professor and Extension Policy Specialist, University of Nebraska-Lincoln; and Alejandro Plastina, Associate Professor of Agricultural Finance and Director of the Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center, University of Missouri.
Nebraska’s farm income prospects are mixed in 2025, with lower crop prospects buffered by continued strength in the cattle sector and substantial government assistance projected for the year. The net result is that farm income for the state is projected higher in 2025 and could rival the record farm income results of 2022.
While the outlook may be strong, it might seem at odds with widely-reported producer concerns and high levels of uncertainty over key production, market, and policy developments that could affect farm income through the year.
The details are always more complex and highlight potential differences across sectors as well as the need for a deeper analysis. Join us for a review of the details and the latest farm income situation and outlook for the rest of 2025 and beyond for ag producers.
