        "description": "With Glennis McClure, Extension Educator and Farm and Ranch Management Analyst, UNL; and Jeff Steffen, Producer and Ag Budget Calculator Program User \r\n\r\nGlennis McClure, an extension farm and ranch management analyst, will discuss strategies with a producer and Agricultural Budget Calculator program user to offer insight on how to use the program to better achieve profitability. \r\n\r\nJeff Steffen is a Crofton, Nebraska, area producer operating an integrated crop and livestock farm. During the webinar, Jeff will provide an overview of their operation that focuses on stacked extended crop rotations and integrating cow herd grazing on mixed cover crops. Jeff has used the Agricultural Budget Calculator (ABC) program to analyze cropping scenarios over the last few years. He enters their actual figures into the projected budgets to track what profitability resulted. It’s that time of year when commercial ranchers and cattle producers are preparing to purchase bulls for their operations. With numerous breeds and types available, selecting the right bull at the right price can be challenging. To assist in making the best choice, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Beef Economics Team developed the Bull Value Cow-Q-Lator (BVCQL). This tool allows producers to compare the value of their current bull with up to ten other bulls.

  With Glennis McClure, Extension Educator and Farm and Ranch Management Analyst, UNL; and Jeff Steffen, Producer and Ag Budget Calculator Program User 

Glennis McClure, an extension farm and ranch management analyst, will discuss strategies with a producer and Agricultural Budget Calculator program user to offer insight on how to use the program to better achieve profitability. 

Jeff Steffen is a Crofton, Nebraska, area producer operating an integrated crop and livestock farm. During the webinar, Jeff will provide an overview of their operation that focuses on stacked extended crop rotations and integrating cow herd grazing on mixed cover crops. Jeff has used the Agricultural Budget Calculator (ABC) program to analyze cropping scenarios over the last few years. He enters their actual figures into the projected budgets to track what profitability resulted. Overall, he’s been able to estimate enterprise and whole farm profitability with fewer inputs and increased revenue. 

Jeff is a member of the Nebraska Natural Resource Commission Board, and the Lewis & Clark Natural Resource District Board, and serves as a technical advisor for the Bow Creek Watershed Project.

  The five-part webinar series, Grain Marketing for 2025, is designed to equip farmers with the knowledge and strategies they need to succeed in today’s ever-changing grain market.

Each session will be led by Agricultural Economists Cory Walters and Jessica Groskopf, who will review and provide insights into managing important topics such as: World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE), Cost of Production, Seasonality and Price Patterns, Pre-harvest pricing strategies, and Crop Insurance contract decisions including SCO and ECO.

The webinars will help producers navigate the complex process selling grain under unknown information about future market prices, yields and high investment costs.

  With Leacey E. Brown, MS, South Dakota State University Extension Gerontology Field Specialist

Each of us is a member of a generational cohort used to describe groups of similarly aged people. People from the same generation are often depicted as sharing similar traits and characteristics, leading to the development of micro generations, like the Xennials or Generation Jones, when individuals do not match existing generations. This workshop will dispel common misconceptions about generations and explore how to communicate across the generations.
