- [00:00:04.040]the participant support cost in
- [00:00:06.340]order for
- [00:00:07.440]this sheet to appear on the
- [00:00:08.810]budget form you must check the

- [00:00:10.980]participant support costs which
- [00:00:12.730]can be found on the start here
- [00:00:14.280]sheet or the
- [00:00:15.400]direct cost sheet these costs
- [00:00:17.600]are defined as direct costs for
- [00:00:19.880]items such
- [00:00:20.480]as stipends or subsistence
- [00:00:22.370]allowances travel allowances

- [00:00:26.160]paid to or on behalf of
- [00:00:27.810]participants or trainees but
- [00:00:30.140]not employees in
- [00:00:31.580]connection with conferences or
- [00:00:34.280]training projects if you have
- [00:00:36.790]participant support
- [00:00:37.980]costs simply select the box for
- [00:00:39.630]participant support costs
- [00:00:41.090]either in the

- [00:00:45.200]become
- [00:00:45.720]available within the sheet each
- [00:00:48.420]table used to calculate costs
- [00:00:50.250]are individually
- [00:00:51.000]labeled with group headings
- [00:00:52.610]this way separate calculations
- [00:00:54.400]can be made for
- [00:00:55.320]each group
- [00:00:56.160]that requires participant
- [00:00:58.230]support costs costs in regard
- [00:01:00.300]to stipends travel
- [00:01:01.900]subsistence and other costs are
- [00:01:03.720]able to be entered into the
- [00:01:05.200]calculation table
- [00:01:06.400]the number of participants are
- [00:01:08.300]then able to be entered into
- [00:01:09.960]each corresponding
- [00:01:11.160]year the amount for
- [00:01:12.770]participants will be multiplied
- [00:01:15.160]by the base rate of each cost
- [00:01:17.160]category and are totaled also
- [00:01:19.680]an option for an annual
- [00:01:21.420]increase can be found at
- [00:01:23.040]the top of the sheet
- [00:01:25.320]finally
- [00:01:25.820]individual lines can be
- [00:01:27.450]excluded from that increase by
- [00:01:29.300]entering an N in column
- [00:01:31.960]E for that line the study
- [00:01:34.700]subject payment sheet is laid
- [00:01:36.700]out identical to
- [00:01:37.720]this sheet the distinction is
- [00:01:40.000]that study subject payments are
- [00:01:41.960]costs paid to or on
- [00:01:43.580]behalf of human subjects for
- [00:01:45.090]taking part in surveys
- [00:01:46.520]interviews and other research
- [00:01:48.340]studies this distinction is
- [00:01:50.470]important as it will affect the
- [00:01:52.260]F&A cost because
- [00:01:53.360]participant support costs are
- [00:01:55.030]excluded from the F&A base
- [00:01:57.200]whereas study subject
- [00:01:58.180]payments would be included in
- [00:01:59.800]the F&A base and will impact
- [00:02:01.270]the overall project
- [00:02:02.480]cost I hope this was helpful
- [00:02:05.060]for you check out the other
- [00:02:06.700]videos in this series
