- [00:00:00.000]In this video, I'll walk
- [00:00:04.880]through the GRA sheet. This
- [00:00:07.170]sheet is where you'll enter
- [00:00:08.100]information for all UNL
- [00:00:09.620]graduate assistants. This
- [00:00:11.590]information formerly was
- [00:00:13.920]in the personnel sheet, but due
- [00:00:15.360]to changes in tuition remission
- [00:00:16.880]calculations and the growing
- [00:00:18.660]complexity of budgets, it is
- [00:00:20.480]now a standalone sheet
- [00:00:21.900]that can be accessed by
- [00:00:23.650]checking the "include GRAs" box
- [00:00:26.200]in the personnel sheet.
- [00:00:29.120]Within this new sheet, there
- [00:00:31.360]are two roles. One is just GRA
- [00:00:34.700]and the second is
- [00:00:35.860]GRA chemistry. The reason for
- [00:00:38.110]this distinction is that UNL
- [00:00:40.080]limits GRA
- [00:00:40.880]effort to 0.49 FTE, while the
- [00:00:43.390]Department of Chemistry limits
- [00:00:45.540]it further to 0.4 FTE.
- [00:00:47.560]This will come into play later
- [00:00:49.690]in this series when we discuss
- [00:00:51.830]the budget output
- [00:00:52.980]options. Like in the personnel
- [00:00:55.900]sheet, you'll have a spot for a
- [00:00:58.240]name.
- [00:00:58.240]If not known at the time of the
- [00:01:00.270]proposal, you can just put in
- [00:01:02.630]TBD.
- [00:01:03.240]The next cell is the annual
- [00:01:06.600]salary. Then you can select the
- [00:01:09.830]type of salary
- [00:01:10.820]increase to be applied to each
- [00:01:12.840]GRA. There are four different
- [00:01:15.330]options: standard,
- [00:01:17.140]which will default to what is
- [00:01:18.960]entered in the start here sheet,
- [00:01:21.090]non-standard by
- [00:01:22.240]project year, which allows you
- [00:01:24.070]to enter specific salary rates
- [00:01:25.840]for each project year if a
- [00:01:27.360]straight line is entered.
- [00:01:27.360]The next cell is non-standard
- [00:01:32.930]by academic year, which allows
- [00:01:35.540]you to enter specific amounts
- [00:01:37.180]for each academic year. And the
- [00:01:39.760]final option is no annual
- [00:01:41.280]increase.
- [00:01:42.420]We'll walk through those two
- [00:01:44.150]non-standard increases in just
- [00:01:46.160]a minute.
- [00:01:47.260]The next cell gives the user
- [00:01:49.660]the option to select a tuition
- [00:01:52.440]rate. The different levels are
- [00:01:54.920]described at the bottom of this
- [00:01:56.480]sheet.
- [00:01:57.360]Next, you can set the number of
- [00:01:59.470]credit hours for each GRA in a
- [00:02:02.200]year.
- [00:02:03.180]The default is 30 hours, which
- [00:02:05.760]assumes 12 hours in the fall
- [00:02:08.080]and spring and 6 hours in the
- [00:02:10.300]summer.
- [00:02:11.140]This number can be changed, but
- [00:02:13.090]should be entered based on the
- [00:02:15.000]estimate for a full year.
- [00:02:17.140]If tuition is limited by the
- [00:02:18.790]sponsor, there is also an
- [00:02:20.260]option to remove it by entering
- [00:02:21.980]a "Y" in the last cell.
- [00:02:25.360]Finally, you'll enter the
- [00:02:25.360]number of credit hours for each
- [00:02:25.360]GRA in a year. The default is
- [00:02:25.360]30 hours, which assumes 12
- [00:02:25.360]hours in the fall and spring
- [00:02:25.360]and 6 hours in the summer. This
- [00:02:25.360]number can be changed, but
- [00:02:25.360]should be entered based on the
- [00:02:25.360]estimate for a full year. If
- [00:02:25.360]tuition is limited by the
- [00:02:25.360]sponsor, there is also an
- [00:02:25.360]option to remove it by entering
- [00:02:25.360]a "Y" in the last cell.
- [00:02:25.360]Finally, you'll enter the
- [00:02:27.140]number of GRAs. One GRA is
- [00:02:28.890]equivalent to a full GRA
- [00:02:29.490]appointment, typically 10 or 12
- [00:02:30.940]months.
- [00:02:31.360]Finally, you'll enter the
- [00:02:32.160]number of GRAs. One GRA is
- [00:02:32.940]equivalent to a full GRA
- [00:02:33.640]appointment, typically 10 or 12
- [00:02:34.910]months.
- [00:02:35.380]If the GRA will not work on the
- [00:02:36.980]project the full year, you can
- [00:02:38.960]enter decimals in the cell.
- [00:02:41.380]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:02:43.450]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:02:45.020]second working only one
- [00:02:46.520]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:02:50.020]GRAs here.
- [00:02:51.380]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:02:51.830]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:02:52.160]second working only one
- [00:02:52.500]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:02:53.030]GRAs here.
- [00:02:53.360]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:02:54.790]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:02:55.850]second working only one
- [00:02:56.910]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:02:58.620]GRAs here.
- [00:02:59.360]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:03:00.290]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:03:00.970]second working only one
- [00:03:01.670]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:03:02.790]GRAs here.
- [00:03:03.360]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:03:03.810]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:03:04.140]second working only one
- [00:03:04.490]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:03:05.040]GRAs here.
- [00:03:05.380]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:03:05.830]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:03:06.160]second working only one
- [00:03:06.500]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:03:07.050]GRAs here.
- [00:03:07.380]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:03:07.830]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:03:08.170]second working only one
- [00:03:08.500]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:03:09.050]GRAs here.
- [00:03:09.380]For example, if you'll have one
- [00:03:09.830]GRA work a full year and a
- [00:03:10.160]second working only one
- [00:03:10.500]semester, you could enter 1.5
- [00:03:11.050]GRAs here.
- [00:03:11.380]If you have GRAs that have
- [00:03:12.900]unique increase rate, such as
- [00:03:14.790]those within the College of
- [00:03:16.480]Engineering, you can use one of
- [00:03:18.450]the non-standard increase rate
- [00:03:20.430]options.
- [00:03:21.380]If you have GRAs that have
- [00:03:21.520]unique increase rate, such as
- [00:03:21.700]those within the College of
- [00:03:21.850]Engineering, you can use one of
- [00:03:22.030]the non-standard increase rate
- [00:03:22.210]options.
- [00:03:22.400]If you have GRAs that have
- [00:03:22.510]unique increase rate, such as
- [00:03:22.660]those within the College of
- [00:03:22.800]Engineering, you can use one of

- [00:03:23.400]If you have GRAs that have
