SDG #8 Decent Work & Economic Growth: Global Expert Laban Njuguna

As part of our ongoing expert sessions for the SDG Scholars Program, we present global expert Laban Njuguna, speaking to Goal #8, Decent Work and Economic Growth. Laban is the co-founder of Zabuni Specialty Coffee Auction, a platform to position coffee farmers from Africa to access buyers directly in North America and to empower them to negotiate for better prices directly with buyers. Zabuni Specialty Coffee warehouses, markets and auctions specialty coffee on behalf of small scale coffee farmers like his grandmother, who is now 107 years old, and still a coffee farmer. The organization is changing the conventional way through which specialty coffee leaves origin, and gets to buyers and consumers, so that farmers are sustainably & economically empowered.
