Description

Dr. Susan Marks is a visiting lecturer in art history for the University of Sunderland, UK and currently hold the position of chair of selector for the British Quilt Study Group. She completed her BFA with honors in sculpture in 1997 and her PhD in art history in 2006 both from the University of Sunderland. Her doctoral dissertation examined the positioning of quilts with the visual arts with particular reference to contemporary quilt making practice. She is a frequent contributor of articles and reviews to Selvedge, The Quilter and World of Embroidery. Her publications include “Quilts, Art and Feminism” in Quilt Art and “Perceptions of the Quilt in Twentieth Century Britain” in Quilt Studies.
