- [00:00:08.319]This is Jessica, with Nebraska Extension,
- [00:00:09.956]and this is a quick tutorial
- [00:00:11.636]on the Grain Marketing Plan app.
- [00:00:14.048]To download the app, you can go to the App Store,
- [00:00:16.669]and simply search for grain marketing plan,
- [00:00:19.801]and download the app onto your iPhone, or iPad.
- [00:00:24.024]Once you have the app downloaded to your device,
- [00:00:28.825]you are going to want to Allow Notifications,
- [00:00:32.885]and click Get Started.
- [00:00:36.154]Once you get to this screen,
- [00:00:37.245]you will need to enter your information.
- [00:00:40.577]Once you have registered,
- [00:00:41.776]you will be taken to the My Plan screen.
- [00:00:44.997]But, first thing you wanna do on the My Plan Screen,
- [00:00:47.386]is select which Commodity you're interested in developing
- [00:00:50.708]a Grain Marketing plan for.
- [00:00:53.405]Tap the drag-down menu,
- [00:00:54.874]on the top-right-hand of your screen,
- [00:00:57.170]and select your Commodity.
- [00:01:00.098]So, the next thing that you're going to need to do,
- [00:01:01.674]is to enter information into the Crop Data screen.
- [00:01:06.623]I have entered information on the Crop Data screen,
- [00:01:09.395]in order for you to see
- [00:01:11.047]what kind of information that you need to input.
- [00:01:14.438]You will notice that I did not use any commas,
- [00:01:17.407]as I input this information.
- [00:01:19.810]But, I did use decimals, and negative signs,
- [00:01:22.471]where necessary.
- [00:01:23.810]You must enter a value greater than zero,
- [00:01:26.172]in every input on this screen.
- [00:01:29.501]To find out more information, about each input,
- [00:01:32.642]you can tap on the information bubble,
- [00:01:35.211]on the left-hand side of your screen.
- [00:01:39.039]To close this information dialogue box, tap OK.
- [00:01:44.992]As you're entering price information,
- [00:01:46.879]you will need to enter it in future's terms.
- [00:01:49.697]The Grain Marketing Plan app uses future's prices
- [00:01:52.527]to create its notifications.
- [00:01:54.730]For example, on the Crop Data screen,
- [00:01:56.871]there is a spot for you to put in
- [00:01:58.683]an Expected Break Even Price.
- [00:02:01.002]This should be a future's break even,
- [00:02:03.182]not a cash break even.
- [00:02:05.112]The app does allow you to enter an expected basis,
- [00:02:08.009]on the Crop Data screen,
- [00:02:09.663]and in the Pre-Harvest and Post-Harvest decision screens.
- [00:02:14.232]Though, most locations, in Nebraska,
- [00:02:16.211]the cash price is lower than the future's price.
- [00:02:19.703]To enter an Under Basis,
- [00:02:21.113]you will need to input a negative sign,
- [00:02:23.691]before your Expected Basis value.
- [00:02:26.741]To save the information you have entered, into the app,
- [00:02:30.120]tap the check mark, on the top-right-hand of your screen.
- [00:02:35.333]Now, we are ready to input our Grain Marketing plan.
- [00:02:38.499]To input a Grain Marketing decision statement,
- [00:02:41.341]tap the Pre-Harvest, or Post-Harvest button.
- [00:02:44.792]To create a new decision,
- [00:02:46.200]tap on the pencil, in the top-right-hand of your screen.
- [00:02:50.162]After you have entered your decision statement,
- [00:02:52.611]tap the check mark on the top-right-hand of your screen.
- [00:02:56.721]Once you have entered all of your decisions
- [00:02:58.480]into the Grain Marketing Plan app,
- [00:03:00.480]you can tap on the menu button,
- [00:03:02.361]on the top-left-hand of your screen.
- [00:03:05.252]Then, select Plan Progress.
- [00:03:08.323]The Plan Progress screen shows you the End of Day prices,
- [00:03:12.093]for either the new crop contract, for the Pre-Harvest plan,
- [00:03:16.286]or the nearby contract, for the Post-Harvest plan.
- [00:03:20.307]You can change the Commodity that you're viewing,
- [00:03:22.318]by tapping on the top-right-hand of your screen,
- [00:03:25.476]and selecting the Commodity.
- [00:03:28.144]You can change which prices you're looking at,
- [00:03:30.904]by switching the toggle, in the middle.
- [00:03:33.986]And you can zoom in, and zoom out, on your screen,
- [00:03:38.526]using the slider bar at the bottom.
- [00:03:42.096]Once you have recorded a sale,
- [00:03:43.666]you'll see these blue dots.
- [00:03:45.773]And you can tap on those blue dots,
- [00:03:47.274]to view the information about that sale,
- [00:03:49.776]including the price and date that it occurred.
- [00:03:54.327]If you have upcoming decisions, you'll see these gray boxes.
- [00:03:58.759]And again, you can tap on the gray box,
- [00:04:00.579]to find out more information about that upcoming decision.
- [00:04:05.699]You can scroll down on the screen,
- [00:04:07.229]and see the average price sold for that plan,
- [00:04:10.250]and the percent of either the expected bushels,
- [00:04:13.196]or the amount in storage, that you've sold.
- [00:04:16.981]You can review your plan,
- [00:04:19.300]by going back to the My Plan screen.
- [00:04:25.201]Or, you can view your Recorded Sales.
